Can Merab Dvalishvili turn the tables on Sean O'Malley, or is he destined for another defeat?

Sean O’Malley is clearly not happy with the way the fight was scored; he claims that what should take precedence while judging a fight is damage. He affirmed to have inflicted more damage on Merab Dvalishvili and more rounds than the newly crowned bantamweight king. Well, guess what? He wants his rematch and ‘The Machine’ seems more than happy to oblige.

Yes, Merab Dvalishvili has no problems throwing down his fists one more time against Sean O’Malley. “I hear O’Malley thinks he won the fight and is looking for a rematch. If he wants it, he can have it. Let’s do it November 16th at the Garden and then I’ll still defend the title against whoever the UFC wants me to fight next,” the Georgian recently tweeted, and he’s really serious about that, which he made apparent in his recent Instagram post.

It’s almost two weeks since the UFC 306 PPV went down, but Merab Davlishvili has already started training with famed coach Ray Longo. He shared a video on Instagram, putting in the work, and stating, “Learning from the best with [Ray Longo] for my rematch with O’Malley.”

Dana White wasn’t impressed with the former champ’s lackluster performance last time out, but the PPV did make the most ticket sales ever. Could that warrant a championship rematch bout? Well, that’s up for debate, but in the meantime, another contender has raised his arm up for an inquiry about his title shot, and that’s none other than Umar Nurmagomedov.

Umar Nurmagomedov wants an update as Merab Dvalishvili plans for a possible rematch against Sean O’Malley

Umar Nurmagomedov, after defeating the formidable Cory Sandhagen, added a sixth consecutive UFC win that helped him make his case for a title shot. But the biggest problem is that he has no idea when he’d get that fight despite Dana White giving his word about that big championship fight. “They said to me I’m next. But you know I don’t want to wait [for] these two guys until next year, you know,” Umar recently revealed that on the ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast. But he’s growing tired of waiting and recently shared a message, frustrated with his current standing in the title scene amidst the Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley rematch speculations.

Can Merab Dvalishvili turn the tables on Sean O'Malley, or is he destined for another defeat?

Have an interesting take?

“To say and to do is not the same,” Umar Nurmagomedov tweeted. “Still waiting any news about fight.” Even though he’s got Dana White’s word, Merab Dvalishvili doesn’t think he’s fought enough top guys to sniff a title shot. But on the other hand, Sean O’Malley truly believes that Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin can easily outlast ‘The Machine’. It’s unclear what the route is, and it depends on the events that will unfold in the future.

Despite the aforementioned cry for an update from Umar Nurmagomedov, there is a chance that Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley battle for the top prize for a second time. But then again, Dana White wasn’t too fond of how the first fight panned out. So, could we see a new contender for the title? Let us know in the comments down below.
