Adesanya has since become one of the biggest stars in the sport, with a record of 21-1 and victories over top contenders such as Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori. He, however, couldn’t go past Alex Pereira even in the UFC cage when the two met at UFC 281. Adesanya has now come out with a statement about settling the scores in the upcoming rematch scheduled for UFC 287. Fans, however, weren’t too kind and slammed him for his statement.

Fans give Israel Adesanya a reality check

UFC 287 is still a few weeks away but the heat is on. Talking about what was in his head going into Israel Adesanya said, F*ck the belt, f*uck everything else, I have to beat this guy. That’s, I guess, my motivation – just beating him. Like I said, they can say whatever they want. It’s 1-0 or 3-0. I don’t keep scores, I settle them and I just need one, and I’m going to get it done.”

A comment read, “Unless he ends Alex’s career or something, nothing will get “settled” with one win lol”. Another fan who thought similarly commented, I’d stop keeping score if I was down 3-0 as well”. A fan thought ‘Izzy’ was only trying to convince himself ahead of UFC 287 rematch. The comment read, “Israel trying his best to convince himself he can beat his Kryptonite ! Lol”

Alex Pereira will not like to give away his belt

The Brazilian fighter, on the other hand, will not like to give away his middleweight belt anytime soon. Alex Pereira wasn’t comfortable at UFC 281 against Adesanya. It was only a last-round motivated rally that saw him rain punches on Adesanya and knock him out. The ‘Poatan’ would like to keep his undefeated streak against Adesanya intact.
