The sport of MMA is as unpredictable as it gets. In this dynamic sport, scheduled fights may get canceled at the last moment or new fights can be arranged days before the event. While fight cancellation usually happens because of unforeseen reasons such as an unfortunate injury, it does leave fans upset. This is something that happened with Beneil Dariush vs Charles Oliveira.
Beneil Dariush is one of the most promising lightweights in the UFC. With a professional record of 22-4-1, he has won his last eight fights. Oliveira, on the other hand, is a former lightweight champion and is considered one of the best lightweights. A fight between the two was scheduled at UFC 288, on May 6th. Unfortunately, there have been some changes to the plan!

Oliveira pulled out of the UFC 288 fight because of an injury. This left Dariush without an opponent. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, Dariush shed some light on this matter. Dariush expressed his frustration with the cancellation of his fight against Oliveira. He said that he is not very confident that Oliveira will show up to fight.
Despite this uncertainty, Dariush remains focused on being as prepared as possible for whoever shows up on fight night. He even offered to fight Arman Tsarukyan and was open to fighting at welterweight if necessary.
“At this point, I’m just trying to be as prepared as possible because I am not very confident this guy’s gonna show up. I just try to be as prepared as possible for whoever shows up on May 6, I was actually willing to fight just about anybody. I offered to fight Arman Tsarukyan, I didn’t realize it, but there are a lot of welterweight options too.”
