“Not Something Us Mortals Get to See Often”: Resurfaced Video of Khabib Nurmagomedov Being Taken Down by a “3X Sambo World Champion” Sends Fans in a Frenzy

Khabib Nurmagomedov is possibly the most dominant wrestler the UFC has ever seen. The former Lightweight champion, who used to wrestle bears when he was young, boasts an undefeated 29-0 win-loss record. He would take his opponents to the ground and either ground and pound them with his excellent guard passing skills or submit them with his impeccable wrestling.

Even though the Dagestani distanced himself completely from MMA this year following his retirement from fighting in 2020, fans still have a lot of love for him. So, when a clip surfaced of Khabib being taken down by a heavyweight three-time Sambo champion, fans had a lot to say.

The video is of a 2013 non-official wrestling bout between ‘The Eagle’ and Ahmachei Gelegaev, a heavyweight and three-time combat Sambo champion.

Khabib can be seen trying to take down his opponent, but the latter is eventually able to leg sweep the eagle and pin him to the ground. Though the video cuts off at that point, Khabib was able to dominate most of the bout and was able to take him down.

This video only cements Khabib’s legacy as one of the greatest wrestlers in UFC history, as it took someone six weight classes above him to take him down, and Khabib still managed to dominate the unofficial match.
