Colby Covington will set foot inside the Octagon after an extended hiatus this weekend and is optimistic about his win. ‘Chaos’ is so confident about his victory against Edwards that he has even called out the middleweight champion Sean Strickland for a fight after Covington wins the welterweight title.
While having a conversation with the Australian publication Code, Covington stated that Strickland is just a man who runs his mouth and nothing else. “He’s pretending to be everything he wishes he was. I’d love to slap Sean Strickland around. He’s just a pathetic excuse of a human being, the guy has literally no fricking IQ. The guy’s so f****** stupid. “said Covington. He further emphasized that he would love to face off against Sean Strickland in the future giving us a hint about his plans for a ‘champ champ’ status.
Covington’s statement faced strong opposition from Strickland. The middleweight champ took to his Instagram handle to respond to Covington’s random call-out. “The only thing Colby can do is call 911 “someone send help” not one ounce of respect for him….. You ran from Verdum and you called the cops on Jorge after running your mouth,” voiced Strickland.

Colby Covington believes that a fight against Whittaker is meaningless for him. The 35-year-old said that Whittaker has already dropped off from his prime and a match-up against him does not make any sense. ‘Chaos’ stated that he is going to be welterweight champion soon and it is bad for him to give unranked fighters any attention.
“Robert [ Whittaker ], he lost the title, and he got beat in a contender fight, so he’s just not relevant anymore. He doesn’t make sense to me. I’m at the top of the division, I’m about to become the welterweight champion of the world, so I only want the biggest and best fights the UFC has to offer. I know they wouldn’t even waste my time and waste their time to try and put the fight together,” said Covington.
