We are just 2 days away from witnessing one of MMA’s biggest events of the year. The UFC 264 event is set to happen on July 10 at the T-Mobile Arena. One of the greatest trilogy fights in UFC history will headline this event as Conor McGregor will face Dustin Poirier at the main event.

Leading up to the fight, both fighters have been constantly taking shots at each other. However, that wasn’t the case when the fighters came face to face at UFC 257. During the whole build-up to that fight and even after the fight, both ‘Notorious’ and Poirier treated each other with respect.

However, during this pre-fight press conference of UFC 264, both fighters were taking shots at each other. Hence, a reporter asked McGregor about the same and questioned him about when and why did the switch from being nice to Poirier to taking shots at him happen.

However, as McGregor was preparing to answer the question, Poirier quickly jumped in and said. He said, “Coz he got knocked the fu*k out. Not McGregor fast, McGregor sleep.”

Poirier seems to believe that McGregor’s attitude changed because of the loss he suffered in his last fight. Many people believe the same as McGregor’s ability to unnerve his opponents before the fight has always helped him in having an edge inside the Octagon.

When did the animosity between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier re-ignite?

Just after the UFC 257 fight between McGregor and ‘The Diamond’ ended, they decided there and then that they will face each other in a trilogy fight soon. The relationship between the two fighters seemed to be one of mutual respect.

However, it all changed after McGregor promised to donate money to Poirier’s charity. According to Poirier, McGregor’s team did not donate any money and even stopped responding to them after the fight. This is what led to the re-ignition of the spark between the fighters, and ever since then, they have been taking digs at each other at every opportunity.
