Following an extremely closely contested match, Amir Albazi managed to triumph over Israel Adesnya’s teammate Kai Kara France, at the main event of UFC Vegas 74. This win hasn’t just extended his undefeated streak in the UFC, but the Iraqi fighter is already in the talks for a potential title match. But before the dust of his last performance could settle, Albazi made some serious allegations against UFC’s commentary team during his recent interview with ESPN.

According to the 29-year-old, the commentators gave his Kiwi opponent ‘too much’ undeserved credit during his last octagon appearance. At the same time, he also blamed them for not giving him enough credit. It is noteworthy that the commentary team at the said UFC event included Brendan Fitzgerald, Michael Bisping, and Laura Sanko.

In the Fighter’s opinion, this bias from commentators could be attributed to swaying the people’s opinions against him. In Amir Alabzi’s own words, “They were kind of like not giving me credit for what I was doing and giving Kai too much credit for stuff that I don’t believe. They said he defended my takedowns, but let’s be real here. The moment I tried to take you down, I got you down”

For context, the split decision victory of Albazi at UFC’s last weekend’s headliner was contested by many. This includes veteran commentator Jon Anik and former two-division champion, Henry Cejudo. But if the former FSC flyweight champion is to be believed, he did enough to deserve the decision to win over his opponent. This is something that he attests to, after revisiting the fight recordings. He added that such a close contest could be expected at the highest level of the game.

One UFC fighter does not believe Amir Albazi should fight for the title next

After his last victory over Kai Kara France, Amir Albazi has garnered a fair share of supporters for being next in line for the title shot. This is not just because France had last fought Brandon Moreno for the belt going into the fight. But also, this was Albazi’s sixth straight win in the promotion. But many in the MMA community do not share this opinion.

This includes Albazi’s fellow flyweight, Brandon Royval. In his opinion, the Iraqi’s last performance wasn’t enough to earn him a shot at the flyweight gold, especially bypassing him. At the same time, he does not agree with the judge’s decision to award Albazi with the victory over his Kiwi rival. It is interesting to note that Royval has previously beaten Kai Kara France more definitely, finishing him by guillotine choke at UFC 253. The former LFA flyweight champion further added that he is shocked that Amir Albazi is now ahead of him in the UFC’s official rankings.
