Penn dished out some advice for younger fighters. He advised them to look at MMA as an opportunity and not as a career. Thus, Rogan referred to this advice in a conversation with UFC’s Khalil Rountree Jr.

The heavyweight fighter wants something long-lasting from his life. However, fights aren’t one of those. Hence, Rogan went back to what BJ Penn had previously said. Referencing that, Rogan said, “BJ Penn said it best. He was on the podcast last week. He said ‘fighting is an opportunity. It’s not a career’. And then he said ‘But don’t tell it to Andrei Arlovski’. That motherf***er made a career out of it.”

Arlovski, a veteran MMA fighter, has been in the game for a long time. He has been fighting professionally since 1999 and the 43-year-old is still going strong. His latest fight was against Jake Collier, which he won through a decision. So he is currently riding a four-fight winning streak.

Thus, there is no doubt that ‘The Pit Bull’ successfully made a career out of mixed martial arts. However, UFC President Dana White too had said something similar to what Penn said. As per White, UFC isn’t a career because injuries could take place anytime. Hence, White, too, referred to it as an opportunity.

Rountree thought that Jake Collier won the fight against Arlovski. However, when Rogan cleared up that it was Arlovski who won the fight, Rountree was amazed. They further discussed how close of a fight it was. The veteran fighter was a UFC champion in 2005, and 2006 and made his UFC debut at UFC 28.
