The UFC recently announced that Bud Light will return as their official beer partner in 2024. However, this deal has led to Dana White facing a lot of backlash, given that Anheuser-Busch had been riddled with controversy in 2023. But the UFC CEO has opened up about their partnership in a recent press conference appearance.

Not too long ago, Joe Rogan took aim at transgender influenced Dylan Mulvaney and even mocked Bud Light for getting into a situation where people were boycotting them. He even called the influence an “attention wh*re.” Despite the backlash surrounding Bud Light, Dana White stated his primary intentions for signing a deal with the brand.

The 54-year-old promoter recently made an appearance at a Power Slap press conference. He got hit with the questions surrounding the backlash with Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light. Meanwhile, he replied that this situation is identical to the one that happened during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“People are very opinionated about this and it’s almost like the Covid thing, right? What did I say? Somebody’s gotta be first you and and there are reasons why I felt we could be first going through Covid,” said Dana White.

He further mentioned that while people are talking about the deal with Bud Light as all about money, all sponsorship deals have money involved in it. Dana White further stated, “But when it comes to Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light, everybody talks about, ‘Oh, you did it for money.’ Hey, dummies. All sponsorship deals are about money.”

Moreover, the UFC CEO claimed that the promotion was going to end up earning money no matter who they signed a deal with. However, the real reason why the UFC chose to go ahead with Bud Light is because they share the same core values as the promotion. “We were gonna end up with money, with no matter who we ended up with. For Anheuser-Busch, it was about values, core values for me,” said Dana White. He further addressed the rumors surrounding his statement after the deal with Bud Light was announced.

Nobody tells the UFC CEO what to say

Dana White stated that he is in a different position now than he was before in the UFC. Everything that he does for the promotion is not necessarily about money anymore. It is about much more than that. White said, “I am at a point in life and I’m at a point in my career, where nothing is just about money anymore.”

Furthermore, he addressed the situation where people claimed that his statement after the deal with Bud Light was signed had been scripted. However, Dana White stated that he is not anybody’s puppet. He does what he feels is right and every statement he’s ever made came out of his conscious mind. “Nobody writes me a script. Nobody tells me what to say, ever… Every quote is me, everything that’s posted on social media is me and everything that comes out of this mouth is me,” said the 54-year-old promoter.
