Ireland vs. Dagestan 2 concluded with Usman Nurmagomedov still on top of the Bellator lightweight throne, as he defeated Paul Hughes via a majority decision. Needless to say, the fight kept the MMA community glued to their seats till the very end. It was a perfect blend of excitement and action as 2 judges scored the cards 48-46 in Nurmagomedov’s favor, while one judge declared it a draw with 47 points to each fighter. However, Conor McGregor wasn’t happy with the outcome. But was it a robbery for Hughes?

‘The Notorious’ took to X and wrote, “Tremendous fight and performance! Easy win for Hughes, he DOMINATED THAT FIGHT. And Umar exactly what it says on the tin, a Nurmagamedov. Runner, sprinter, bolter, scarper, scurrying “fighter”. The Nurmagomedovs are not fighters. They are the most non fighting fighters out of Dagestan and all time. Run away around the cage and shoot a-s bi—es.Dagestan is better than the Nurmagomedovs and that is a FACT!” He wasted no time in lashing out at his former rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov

Even ‘Big News’ believed that he was the one who won that fight. In the post-fight interview, he admitted that he should have pushed himself a bit harder and a bit further to claim the win. But a rematch was right out in the open. And he promised to give it his all the next time he fights with the Dagestani champion. Of course, he was disappointed at the defeat. But his courage in asking for a rematch was truly commendable. Nurmagomedov, on the other hand, admitted that he had underestimated Hughes, and it was a mistake to do so. He claimed, “Paul Hughes, brother, you’re the man, brother, you’re really the man. Brother, you’re tough.” But he was still the undefeated and undisputed Bellator lightweight champion, and that was a fact.
