Jon Jones is still adamant about getting his hands on the legacy fight against light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. UFC CEO Dana White has rejected that proposal publicly, claiming that he’s more in favor of the heavyweight title unification match between Jones and Tom Aspinall. However, the 27-1 legend claims that the magnitude of fighting the Englishman isn’t as big as fighting Pereira.
Jon Jones shares most of his updates on social media, especially via tweets. He doesn’t do as many interviews as some of the other fighters do, but during a recent one, he opened up on why fighting Alex Pereira makes sense. Jones claims that there is no other fighter with the same level of achievement on the roster as he and Pereira. Both fighters are two division champions in the UFC, and ‘Poatan’ did it on the back of an illustrious kickboxing career, which is why ‘Bones’ wants to butt heads with the Brazilian star.
“I think we have both [he and Alex Pereira] have huge legacies. We both have multiple championships. Alex Pereira won double belt in Glory Kickboxing. He won double belts in UFC. He’s a celebrity, he’s a star all over the world,” Jon Jones told ‘Alex G Was Here’. The undisputed champion further mentioned the eyes he and Alex Pereira could garner compared to him fighting Tom Aspinall, who Jones claims to be only popular in the United Kingdom.

“Tom Aspinall, no one really cares about him right now, you know, outside of the UK. I mean, if you’re a heavy UFC fan, you know who Tom Aspinall is, but you walk into a barbershop, we all into any average spot… and we ask about Tom Aspinall, nobody is going to know who he is,” Jon Jones added.
However, Tom Aspinall believes that Jon Jones is just trying to play games because deep down he knows that he wants to fight the Englishman. Let’s see what Tom Aspinall had to say.

Tom Aspinall claims Jon Jones “secretly” wants to fight him
There’s been a lot of talk about how Jon Jones would fare against Tom Aspinall. While some have sided with the undisputed heavyweight champion, others believe the interim champion has the legitimate tools to hand ‘Bones’ his first clean defeat in a professional MMA fight. Aspinall claims that the fact that people talk about him possibly beating Jones doesn’t sit right with the Albuquerque native.

“I think he secretly wants it [to fight him],” Tomm Aspinall recently told Ariel Helwani. “He has a gigantic ego, and he should have because he’s one of the best fighters ever and he hates the fact that people are saying I can beat him. He can’t sleep at night. All this stuff he keeps mentioning over and over again… he knows deep down, he knows.”
Well, we will let you be the judge of what you have to say after both fighters present their arguments. As we wait to see what Dana White decides to do with Jon Jones next, let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
