According to sources, in an interview with TSN, Oliveira said that fighting Islam Makhachev in Abu Dhabi in October, would be too soon for him and that he might want to take up that fight later on this year.

Now, Oliveira confirmed the news with a Tweet, confirming that he would not be facing the Dagestani in Abu Dhabi. However, he said that they would be facing off for sure.

Não importa quanto tempo demore, se estiver nos planos de Deus, vai acontecer.“, wrote the Brazilian martial artist which roughly translates to “No matter how long it takes, if it’s in God’s plans, it will happen.“.

Oliveira’s fans might be disappointed to find out that their favorite fighter won’t be fighting Islam Makhachev. However, they are happy to know that Oliveira is open to a fight later this year.
