Michael Chandler has been left hanging after the cancellation of his UFC 303 bout against Conor McGregor! While the ‘postponement’ of the June 3rd press conference in Dublin had caused a wave of concern amongst the fandom, all hopes for ‘The Notorious’ return came crashing down when UFC CEO Dana White announced on social media that the Irishman had suffered an injury and as such, will be out of the June 29 fight against Chandler.

The pair were originally set to clash after the TUF 31 season last year, and this latest injury adds to the list of the roadblocks the fight has faced with McGregor’s drug testing status and Hollywood obligations also leading to multiple delays in his return. As such, in a recent video shared on social media, Michael Chandler addressed the “uncertainty” around his fight with McGregor in an honest confession!

Michael Chandler’s last fight inside the Octagon was against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 in November 2022 and since then, the former 3-time Bellator lightweight champion has been busy in trying to secure a clash against Conor McGregor.

Despite dealing with the previously mentioned issues with the fight’s confirmation, the recent news of McGregor’s injury has left Chandler dealing with a difficult situation. Speaking on his Instagram account, Chandler stated, “Got the rug pulled out from underneath me at the last possible moment — I just had got done with my last sparring session Thursday morning,” as he revealed that he received the news of the fight cancellation at a crucial point in his fight-camp.

He further went on to state, “So, what do I do now? A little bit of uncertainty in my life, when’s this fight going to happen, what date would it be rebooked for, what venue, how bad is the injury, reports have come out that it’s not that bad just needs a little bit of a delay but it’s still no guarantees.”

So far, there have been no updates by either the UFC or McGregor’s camp about what exactly the injury is. However, there are indications that the fight may be, “re-booked later this year”, according to an update on X shared by Ariel Helwani.

It appears that for now, Michael Chandler will have to continue his display of resilience and patience as his wait for a clash against Conor McGregor seems to have been extended further. Nevertheless, ‘The Notorious’ did take the time to address the fandom with a statement about his delayed comeback to the Octagon!
