Injuries are common in combat sports, especially when it comes to MMA. Although proper safety concerns are adhered to while in competition, there have been cases where things have taken a turn for the worse.
Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is one of the most popular UFC fighters today. He boasts an MMA record that most can only dream of having. While McGregor can come off as a really tough individual, he recently shared a worrying video of a spar session gone wrong on his Instagram story with a warning to his followers.

Most people have the impression that UFC fighters or MMA fighters are tough and rugged ruffians. But what most people fail to understand is that an injury is no joke, and no matter how tough, hitting a fighter where one shouldn’t can be really scary.
McGregor recently shared a video on his Instagram story where two people were seen sparring. During the session, one fighter was seen landing one shot to the temple of his opponent and then one heavy strike to the back of his head. This shot seemed to wobble his opponent, whose legs gave away.
McGregor shared this with a caption that read: “Temple shot followed by a back of the head shot. A game you don’t play.”. It might have been a word of advice from the MMA veteran, but it seems that it was much more than just that. Maybe a jibe at someone?
Conor McGregor calls out Islam Makhachev’s illegal moves against Alexander Volkanovski
UFC 294 was the main event that everyone was looking forward to. UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev would be defending his title against one of the best fighters on the current UFC roster and the featherweight champ, Alexander Volkanovski.
The two fought earlier this year as well, and Volkanovski came the closest to shutting down the lights for Makhachev. However, in the end, Makhachev prevailed by decision-something that has been the point of criticism for most UFC fans.

However, it seems that UFC 294 had its share of controversies as well. Once Makhachev landed the head kick that knocked out Volkanovski, he proceeded to rain down heavy punishment on the featherweight champ. However, as legendary UFC official John McCarthy pointed out, most of the shots that Makhachev landed were to the back of Volkanovski’s head and thereby illegal. But, in some way of divine intervention, Islam Makhachev was also left with an injured leg, a picture of which he shared with fans post-fight.

Now, it seems that former lightweight champ Conor McGregor also agrees with that, and the video that he shared with the caption was geared towards the way Makhachev decided to put an end to the UFC 294 chapter for Alexander Volkanovski.
