‘Nick Was the Best in Strikeforce’- Tyron Woodley Excited About Nick Diaz Potentially Making His UFC Return

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is scheduled to fight Vicente Luque at UFC 260. Woodley has lost three on the road and will look to return to winning ways upon his comeback to the Octagon. In fact, ‘The Chosen One’ has competed since his defeat to Colby Covington last year.

‘T-Wood’ has been one of the best welterweights ever in the history of the UFC. And while he has been compared to legendary names of the sport over the years, he has his own list of legends as well. Welterweight pioneers such as Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz are among the names on his list.

“If you’d asked me this question a couple of years ago, I would definitely be saying St. George St. Pierre, Nick or Nate Diaz, Bisping you know, people that really respected that I felt like was the best I felt Nick was the best strike force.

“Man, he was so dominant like nobody could. He would be behind on the cars and come back and get a knockout he would never get tired of the fight,” Woodley said when asked about his opinion on the greatest welterweights of all time.

Diaz was the Strikeforce welterweight champion back in the day and was one of the most recognizable fighters in the world at the time. His personality and fighting style never failed to attract fans to the sport.

“I would love to see him return. It’s funny, I was talking with one of his buddies today about Nick and about training, even if it’s just jujitsu. Yeah, I’m a fan of Nick I’m a fan of his mentality I’m a fan of his style,” said Woodley.

“You know you want to see those you strive so I would like to see him fight again. It’s a lot of fights out there there. I think he would do well in it. People will be excited to watch the fight.”

Can Tyron Woodley return to winning ways at UFC 260?

‘The Chosen One‘ is currently on a three-fight skid. Since losing his belt to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235, Woodley has lost to Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington, respectively. He didn’t look like his known self in any of those fights as he ended up doing almost nothing. He has to change that drastically at UFC 260 against Luque if he is to have any chance of making a successful return.

A three-round fight might work in his favor as well, but first, he needs to show some sort of activity when he steps inside the Octagon next. Rather than letting his opponents dictate the fight, Woodley needs to take that responsibility upon himself.
