Back at UFC 297, Movsar Evloev went one-on-one against Arnold Allen for a fight that many expected to be a thrilling matchup, with at least one fighter emerging victorious through an exciting finish. However, it ended up being a match that UFC head honcho Dana White called one of the worst fights he had ever seen in his life.
Now, Aljamain Sterling has gone against Dana White’s idea of a good fight once again after their recent dispute over the UFC CEO making Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev a fight for the prelims at UFC 310. Speaking at a recent press conference, ‘Aljo’ claimed that he didn’t find Evloev vs. Allen to be a boring fight; instead, it is Dana White’s hatred for the Russian fighter that might’ve made the UFC boss speak against the fight instead.
He said, “I wouldn’t really consider him boring. I think Dana saying that fight with Arnold Allen was boring was kind of a stretch. I think most people would agree with that; I think it was probably more of his dislike for Movsar. I think he might dislike him more than me.” Sterling further added, “That’s a good thing. 8 fights, no finishes, all decisions… I at least got a couple of finishes in there, especially in the beginning of my career. When the competition isn’t as tough, that’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to separate yourself from the competition.”

‘Funk Master’ admits that when you’re fighting the best guys, it isn’t easy to land a finish. but he looks to do that on Saturday night against Movsar. Besides, Sterling knows what its like to be on the bad side of the CEO. For a long time during his bantamweight days, the UFC CEO thought Sterling was one of those guys who stood in his own way. There were public disagreements about making fights, among other things.
‘Funkmaster’ was not happy with White publicly revealing the plans for his fight against Sean O’Malley fresh after the Henry Cejudo bout. Sterling needed more time to prepare and instead only had barely three months after five rounds against ‘Triple C.’ But after he moved to featherweight at UFC 300, White was all praise for ‘Aljo.’
Responding to the comments of White’s approval, Sterling said, “I thought that was, for once, really nice of him. I was like, did I have to lose the belt for people to cut me a little slack? I’m not asking for much, I think it takes more to be dismissive and rude to someone versus just kinda prop them up… I thank him for that, that was cool. That’s all I’ve ever wanted was at least, make me somewhat of an ally because the fans are going to regurgitate whatever he says and he knows that.”

However, the placement of the fight will remain an issue for the former bantamweight champion.
Dana White makes Aljamain Sterling feel insulted
Despite being a former bantamweight champion and one of the best fighters in his category, Aljamain Sterling will not appear on the main card at UFC 310. The bout was originally scheduled for UFC 307 in October but was put off due to Sterling’s shoulder injury. However, the fight remains important in the 145-pound class, as both fighters are near the top of the rankings.

As a result, it was scheduled for UFC 310 but will now be part of the prelims. Many people were surprised by this choice, while Sterling felt slightly disrespected by the treatment. The former Bantamweight champion said, “I didn’t know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card. Or glass half full, and guess that’s the best way I try to look at everything in life and was a little confused by it, of course.”
However, he remains confident that he will be the winner of the fight and give a performance that will surely make Dana White regret his decision. “I think people are going to be in for a very big surprise. And the UFC is going to realize we messed up big time by not putting this on the main card.” However, it will not be easy, as Evloev, who has an 18-0 record, is looking to consolidate his position as a top contender. He is one of the division’s best grapplers and aims to reign supreme as the champion as soon as possible. What do you think? Will Aljamain Sterling deliver the performance of a lifetime at UFC 310?
