However, the podcast also had its own share of controversies.
One of the controversies erupted earlier this year, as the featuring guest, Robert W. Malone, on JRE #1757 made some highly debatable claims about COVID-19. Subsequently, many eminent artists, including Neil Young, decided to remove their music from Spotify, as the platform didn’t take action against the famed podcaster.

What did Neil Young say about the Joe Rogan-Spotify controversy?
In a recent interview with Howard Stern, the artist declared that he didn’t regret pulling his music from Spotify. Mentioning that, the podcast claims turned him off, and he made an instant decision. Young further claimed that the music sounded better on other platforms.
Later on, the 77-year-old singer called Spotify music “like a pixilated movie.”
The Canadian-American artist then maintained that the popular platform had to choose between the two artists. Afterward, the Toronto-born artist commented, “So they chose to have that guy because they’re making millions of dollars off of him and they’ve just given him a whole bunch of money and that I would just eventually roll over and be back.”
Lastly, Young announced that he had no intention of returning to the platform. In addition, the celebrated artist mentioned that he didn’t crave the AirPlay as he neither need it nor want it.

After the episode aired in January earlier this year, Young wrote an open letter threatening the platform. Notably, other artists also followed the suit, such as Joni Mitchell, Nils Lofgren, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash.
What Dr. Malone had said in JRE #1757?
Spotify reportedly bought the famous podcast for around a $200 million deal, making the podcast exclusive to the platform.

However, Dr. Malone, a widely published mRNA vaccine expert, appeared on the podcast and raised concerns over the COVID-19 vaccine. As a result, YouTube banned the interview from its platform. As a result, 270 scientists, physicians, professors, doctors, and healthcare workers wrote an open letter to Spotify against the podcast content.
However, after the much-heated debate, the movement didn’t gain traction and Spotify only released a list of policy updates.
