Khabib Nurmagomedov is an intense competitor, and he let Joe Rogan know about it in 2019. The Dagestan-born athlete didn’t take criticism from The Joe Rogan Experience host, that nicely. The reason being, the criticism was not for his bread and butter, MMA, but another sport close to his heart.

The Eagle was seen playing basketball in The Dagestan Chronicles, a series by Will Harris Productions. Nurmagomedov’s game became viral among MMA fans as it differed from typical basketball.

Joe Rogan pointed it out and made fun of the then-UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s style. When The Eagle came to know about it, he responded to Rogan on social media.

“@joerogan did you say bad about my basketball on your podcast? @willharrisproductions explain to him @nba I’m coming,” Nurmagomedov posted with a clip of him playing basketball.

What did Joe Rogan say about Khabib Nurmagomedov’s basketball?

Rogan had a conversion with Will Harris, who put the video of Khabib Nurmagomedov playing basketball on his YouTube channel. On JRE MMA Show #68, the guest told Rogan that what Nurmagomedov was playing was more like ‘Rugby-basketball’.

“What the f*** am I looking at? You just hold on to it?” Rogan asked his guest after watching a clip of The Eagle playing Dagestan-style basketball.

After the guest told him they even choke each other out during the game, Rogan said, “This is the most ridiculous basketball that I’ve ever seen.” Rogan couldn’t get enough of the video. He laughed out while watching the entire video and kept insisting that it was not basketball.

Khabib Nurmagomedov requested Joe Rogan for a podcast appearance

The Russian fighter has been in the UFC scene for over a decade. Yet, he has not been part of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. But an interesting fact that’s not commonly known is that Nurmagomedov once made a request to Rogan to appear on the JRE podcast.

The undefeated UFC athlete wanted to come to Rogan’s podcast. Besides, he had a partner in mind to join him.

“@joerogan it’s possible, me and my sparing partner bear will come on your show soon,” Nurmagomedov wrote to Rogan in 2015.

However, even after this online interaction, they couldn’t set a date for the JRE podcast.
