In an earlier interview, Landwehr revealed the real reason he got the moniker. And while many expect a story linked to his past or childhood, the fighter kept it simple by saying that he got the nickname because he is savage. “Because I’m a savage, and I run through MFers.” Well, there’s no denying that he is living up to his name with his fan-friendly fighting style. Now, he plans to unleash his inner beast against Doo-Ho Choi at UFC 310, as he revealed in an interview, “I’m gonna try to protect myself this time, but I’m just gonna come out guns blazing—swinging—and we’re gonna see what happens.”

The 36-year-old Tennessee native was born in the same hometown as Wilma Rudolph, the legendary track star who made history by becoming the first American woman to win three gold medals at a single Olympics. There is no denying that growing up in Clarksville, Tennessee – home of the late legendary Olympian, made him grow an interest in sports. In fact, Landwehr excelled in multiple sports at Rossview High School, including track-and-field, football, and wrestling. He even got a track scholarship to Highland Community College in Kansas before dropping out to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

As we all know now, pursuing MMA was a plan that worked for ‘The Train.’ After going 8-2 in his first 10 professional MMA fights, he joined M-1 Global in 2017 and won their featherweight championship in less than a year of joining the promotion. Not just that, he also defended his M-1 featherweight title twice before joining the UFC. Now, he is gearing up for the biggest test of his career in Doo-Ho Choi at UFC 310. However, Nate Landwehr suffered a personal tragedy while training for the upcoming event.
