“The thing that interests me in the UFC, would be just somebody who’s doing something good.”, said Nate Diaz when about fighting in the UFC again. Since retiring in 2022, Diaz has been the subject of much speculation, with regard to UFC legends coming back to the promotion. “There are not a lot of names in the UFC right now, but I feel like they’re coming. There’s nobody [that stands out for me].” he told MMA Knockout on SI last in September 2024. Since retiring, Diaz fought in two boxing bouts, losing one against Jake Paul and winning one against Jorge Masvidal. Although Diaz keeps hinting at a return to the UFC, nothing is confirmed as of yet. However, a UFC insider talked about a particular entry point, a fighter, through which the Stockton scrapper can make a return to the Octagon.
While having a conversation with Daniel Cormier on Good Boy/ Bad Boy, Chael Sonnen highlighted that Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have recently been beefing up and this can potentially turn into a fight under the UFC banner. Talking about Poirier’s final match, Sonnen emphasized that ‘The Diamond’ should give Diaz a chance, “Dustin, who stuck around so long and given so many different guys an opportunity, to try to be the one to win—yes, I would love it if he and Nate Diaz fought.”
‘The American Gangster’ further explained that he had a conversation with Nate Diaz, who is attempting a comeback to the UFC but has yet to secure a deal that could see him return to the promotion, “I spoke to Nate two days ago. Nate told me he wanted to come back to the UFC, and I said, ‘Nate, are you in discussions?’ He said, ‘No, they don’t know yet’.”

He further added, “I didn’t know what that meant. I didn’t know if that meant they didn’t know yet, but I said, ‘Why don’t you come out to The Ultimate Fighter? I’m doing this thing. Let’s have them all in the room.’ Nate said, ‘Yeah, give me some dates.’ So somewhere, I was kind of missing something.”

Sonnen further stated Diaz quotes about the best fighters in the world being in the UFC, and that that’s where he needs to be. So, will Nate Diaz take on Dustin Poirier if the UFC matches them up? Well, that story has been brewing off late, with both fighters taking shots at each other.
Nate Diaz and Paddy Pimblett take on Dustin Poirier in a heated back-and-forth
Nate Diaz and Paddy Pimblett appeared to have made an alliance to troll Dustin Poirier. ‘The Diamond’ has been astute in his words about fighting a legend for his final MMA clash and in the light of that, Paddy Pimblett challenged the former interim-lightweight champion for a clash, which was denied by Poirier. “Nah, it’s a hundred percent, not Paddy Pimblett,” Poirier told Front Office Sports. “Legends only. I’m not gonna retire fighting a type of guy like Paddy Pimblett.”

Nate Diaz was in no mood to let go of what he saw as disrespect from a fellow lightweight fighter. The former UFC star took to his social media handle to respond, “Fight Paddy p—-. He better than you.” Well, Paddy Pimblett was baffled by such praise from the Stockton scrapper that he took to his social media handle to thank Diaz, “[Nate Diaz] knows his s—t, he’s a real G. [Dustin Poirier] fight [Benoit Saint Denis] when he’s rank 12 but not me, you know what would happen.”
