After the ecstatic fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC fans, and fighters all had their say as to who won the bout. The judges fairly scored the contest in favor of the UFC lightweight champion (48-47, 48-47,49-46). Moreover, there was a difference in opinion among certain sections of the fans.
However, former UFC fighter Nate Diaz trolled the winner Makhachev. Over the course of the fight, the Dagestani fighter dominated. But Volkanovski had his moments and caught Makhachev multiple times. This caused some damage to Makhachev and it was noticeable to the audience.

Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski go separate ways
During the post-fight interview, Islam Makhachev was asked who would he like to face next after UFC 284. The Russian fighter replied with whoever was the most deserving. The same answer was asked to Volkanovski, and he stated that he would fight the newly crowned interim featherweight champion Yair Rodriguez after he regroups.
