Who would have thought that Conor McGregor would receive support from Nate Diaz once again? The duo were once indulged in a pretty heated rivalry which got them to the Octagon twice, with both of the fighters having one victory over the other. And Diaz isn’t someone who can let a rivalry slip easily. But when ‘The Notorious’ stood tall against Logan and Jake Paul, the Stockton native had no choice but to back his former opponent.

On 24 January, Diaz took to X and shared a video of McGregor sending a quirky response to the older Paul. He could be heard saying, “It’s all sweet here.” He seemed really upset that the $500M fight in India wasn’t going to happen. And all the blame went towards Paul’s silence. The WWE star seemed to believe that it was indeed the best course of action. But McGregor wasn’t done. He continued, “Well, you’re giving it all this ‘Dana this, Dana that’. You’re f—n’ controlled by the WWE as well bro. Don’t be giving it all this mega stip.” This was indeed a response to Jake Paul’s tweet that dissed the Irishman for his UFC contract.

Little did ‘The Notorious’ know that his actions would garner support from Diaz. The Stockton native captioned his post, “WTH goin on here UGuys all been talkin hella shit u should’ve beat his a–. He would’ve f—ed u both up easy but you should’ve at least gave it a try after talkin all that s—, you lady’s all 🧢🧢🤣✈️ Be about it don’t talk about it. #paulsisters vs #realfighter”

It seemed like Nate Diaz simply had a low tolerance for the Paul brothers. However, that doesn’t mean Diaz never stood up for ‘The Notorious’ before. Back in 2024, he joined the rally to free Conor McGregor from his UFC contract. Well, it was also linked to the Irishman’s return to the Octagon.

Nate Diaz showers unexpected support for Conor McGregor

What’s your perspective on:

Did Nate Diaz just prove that real fighters stick together against the Paul brothers' antics?

Have an interesting take?

McGregor has been asking to return to the UFC for a long while now. He even got the chance to fight at UFC 303 and settle the scores with Michael Chandler. However, a broken pinky toe turned it all to mush. But before that, he released a statement expressing his frustration regarding his remaining fights. Prior to UFC 303, the former UFC double champion was set to fight in December 2023, and then it was pushed to January 2024, and the trend continued. This somehow dropped the Irishman’s interest in training.

And that was when Diaz found a connection with his former rival. He took to X and wrote, “This was me for years before Conor even got here. They want (you) to die before (you) get out these contracts. It’s up to you to make something pop. No one gonna help you but you. Free Conor, it’s (St.) Patty’s Day in this b***.”

These words settled right with McGregor. During a promotional press conference for ‘Roadhouse’, the Irish fighter revealed his appreciation for Diaz’s support – “Love it, love Nate. Happy Paddy’s day to the Diaz bros and the Diaz clan, man. The man and I shared many minutes in the Octagon.” Needless to say, sharing the Octagon with a fighter often changes the way people feel.
