Jake Paul wants a rematch with Nate Diaz in MMA and has offered the former UFC star $15 million to re-appear in the spotlight. But Diaz has not agreed to this, despite having a clear advantage in the octagon and guaranteed to make the biggest purse of his career. Plus, Diaz could avenge his loss to the celebrity boxer from last year. Why? Well, because ‘The Problem Child’ wants the fight to happen at the PFL – the UFC’s biggest competitor.
Of course, Diaz left the Dana White-led promotion last year and has since expressed reservations at the UFC’s business practices. Some fans, believe the $15 million PFL offer is too good for the Stockton native to refuse. On the other hand, others believe the MMA superstar still hopes to get back to the UFC, and will not do this as it would undoubtedly make Dana White mad. However, podcaster and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub feels there is another reason why Diaz doesn’t want to fight in the PFL.
“Nate’s not going to fight in the PFL. I’m with Nate on this. Like ‘yeah, I’m down to fighting MMA. But why would Nate lower his standards go to the PFL? The PFL’s a s**t show, dude. Like why would you go fighting in the PFL?… Nah, f**k that. Nate’s a UFC guy. Like he’s still in cahoots with the UFC. He was backstage [at UFC 310], you know, he’s throwing water bottles, whatever. Doing his s**t. Of course, that’s his thing,” Schaub said on his podcast.

The PFL is indeed going through a hard time at the moment. After acquiring Bellator last year, the Donn Davis-led promotion was expected to give tougher competition to the UFC. But the opposite has happened, with many big stars like Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire, leaving the promotion due to not getting enough fights. And Diaz is smarter than to have his name associated with the PFL, especially since it could mean curtains for his MMA career, according to Schaub.
“But Nate’s not going to diminish his product in fighting in the PFL. Like that’s just a sign of ‘it’s over’ if you go from UFC to PFL. Your complete career is over, no, even if you’re fighting Jake Paul,” the podcaster added.
This brought Schaub to a bombshell idea: “So the problem here is Dana’s gonna have to play nice and sign Jake Paul to one fight deal in the UFC.” Which, of course, raises the question- Could that actually happen?

Why Dana White signing Jake Paul for a Diaz clash is a good idea
To say Dana White doesn’t like Jake Paul would be an understatement. The UFC CEO absolutely detests the celebrity boxer because Paul has been a vocal critic of UFC allegedly underpaying its fighters. But Schaub seems to think the Las Vegas resident would be willing to put aside his personal differences with ‘The Problem Child’ if the UFC could make some money off him.
Indeed, Paul vs. Diaz in MMA would probably be an absolute blockbuster. After all, Paul is certainly the most hated man in combat sports at the moment. Many fans- not just MMA fans but also boxing fans will pay a lot of money to see him humiliated which he could very well be in an MMA match against Nate Diaz. Not to mention White himself would love to see Diaz destroy Paul.

In addition, it would mean the return of Nate Diaz to the UFC, where he is still very much a needle mover because of his dedicated fan following. This is why the idea that Dana White would ever sign Jake Paul may seem an outrageous idea at first glance; but, it makes all the business sense in the world. But will Dana White do it despite all the upsides? Probably not.
