The way Sean O’Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling – no one would have expected a knockout that seamless and crafty. O’Malley really let his fist do all the talking that night. UFC President Dana White was quite impressed with the results. UFC Commentator Daniel Cormier compared O’Malley’s knockout to UFC Lightweight fighter Conor McGregor ‘TKO-ing’ Jose Aldo.

It is one thing to be lauded by fans after a win but be appreciated by your immediate competitors – it takes an impressive feat for that. UFC Bantamweight fighter Cory Sandhagen recently took to Twitter to share his opinion on O’Malley winning the Bantamweight title at UFC 292.

The Bantamweight division was ruled by Aljamain Sterling for quite some time now. He had been an excellent king of the division and is still widely considered to be one of the greatest UFC Bantamweights of all time. However, it seems there is a new king of the weight class and too many contenders at the moment.

Cory Sandhagen is one of the top names that come to mind when the talk of ‘Who’s Next for O’Malley’ comes about. Sandhagen won his last bout against Rob Font on 6 August. However, he suffered a serious injury and is still getting back into shape. That being said, the fighter did not hold back in showing his appreciation and happiness for Sean O’Malley and his team, as he smoothly made his intentions of coming for the title known.

In a recent Instagram post, Sandhagen uploaded a picture of himself in training gear. The caption of the picture read, “Fun time in Boston!! Happy for O’Malley and his team – what an awesome way to win the belt. CANT WAIT TILL ITS MY TIME. Getting healthy ASAP – be back in no time, my people. Have a good week – I love you“.

What happened at UFC on ESPN: Sandhagen vs. Font? Why did the people turn on Cory Sandhagen despite a win?

Cory Sandhagen managed to squeeze a win at Nashville on 6 August against Rob Font, as he struggled with a serious injury that he suffered early on in the fight. According to Sandhagen, he felt a sharp pain within the first round of the fight and immediately knew something was wrong. However, he didn’t realize the magnitude of the damage until the doctors took a look at him.

The injury incapacitated his right arm, leaving him unable to strike with that arm. According to the doctors, he had a fully torn tricep. However, he managed to win that fight by keeping Font on his back and on the mat throughout the fight. He won by decision, although he came quite close to getting Font to submit on an instance.
