Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg recently joined Joe Rogan on an episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast. Snoop is one of the most known figures in the hip-hop world, and still is a relevant figure in the music industry. He is also famous in the combat sports community.

During the podcast, both men touched upon various topics. In an almost four-hour-long episode, they also discussed Snoop’s rap career. Furthermore, they talked about his approach to his songs. According to Snoop, some songs came to him by hearing things, and sometimes the idea of a song came from how he was feeling. This further led to him revealing why he stopped writing about death and dying.

He said, “A lot of times. The song, ‘Murder was the case,’ I wrote that song because I was thinking about life after death. The song was initially called Dave (Death after visualizing eternity) and it was crazy that I was thinking of sh*t like that. And I had made a song called murder was the case. That was about me losing my life or before I lost my life, I cut a deal with the devil, but then God came back and gave me another chance.”

“That was in my mind, but when I wrote it, it just became some gangster sh*t. But that was the premise behind it. It was just in my head like I want to write a song like this. Then, three months later, a caught a murder case in real life. So, my pen was actually writing reality. So, I had to pull back from certain things and say, maybe let’s just start writing about life and living. Instead of always writing about dying and death,” he added.
