Leon Edwards has made his intentions clear for his next move in the UFC. The 30-year-old doesn’t want to fight the former title challenger, instead aims for the welterweight gold. ‘Rocky’ increased his rank to #3 in the welterweight roster with his victory against Nate Diaz at UFC 263. He is currently on a nine-fight win streak. However, Edwards is vacant since his last fight and is looking for an opponent.

Meanwhile, a fight with former title challenger Jorge Masvidal was in the talks as both the fighters have an old beef between them. They had a backstage incident where ‘The Gamebred’ gave ‘Rocky’ ‘three-piece and a soda’ between the interview.

Edwards has been wanting to settle the matter inside the cage ever since then. However, as the promotion is in talks for this fight, ‘Rocky’ is withdrawing from the fight.

In a recent social media post, ‘Rocky’ expressed his disinterest and said, “My next fight will be for the world title. I don’t want to hear nothing about a guy coming off 2 skid and Got KO his last fight.”

Even though fans believe this might be an exciting fight, the British fighter is only focused on the welterweight gold and won’t be taking any other fight. But will the promotion settle his desire?

Will Leon Edwards Get a Title Shot Next

Leon Edwards is on an impressive nine-fight win streak. The (19-3) record holder has kept his column green since his last defeat against Kamaru Usman in 2015. He quickly climbed up the ranks and is #3 currently in the welterweight roster.

However, ‘Rocky’ is yet to lay his hands on the UFC welterweight gold. After his victory against Nate Diaz at UFC 263, Edwards was in the talks for the title shot. However, the promotion has set up a rematch between the current champion Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington at UFC 268.

Meanwhile, Edwards might face the winner of the title fight at UFC 268. However, it is up to the promotion if they give him the title fight or set up another fight before his first title shot. Until then, combat fans have to wait to see what is next for the Brit.
