Combat sports is a tough profession. This is especially true for the older UFC fighters from the nineties, who fought in a much more brutal and unregulated sport. Joe Rogan recently had Kurt Angle on his podcast, where they discussed the old UFC guys like Don Frye and the first UFC heavyweight champion, Mark Coleman, who are suffering from many health problems due to the punishment they took in their exceptional careers.

And the worst thing is that they did not earn a fraction of the money fighters earn today due to the sport and promotion not being as popular back then. And Coleman, a UFC legend, is looking to make his comeback to the fight game at 58 years old in a celebrity boxing match against retired boxer Montell Griffin next month. But, before the match, he came out with a worrying health update.

“My hip popped out. They put me to sleep popped it back in. Everything is great. I’ve been walking ever since about five hours now I’m obsessed. I will continue to move forward. I’m so at peace. I’m so happy nothing will get me down. Sober is the coolest thing ever changed my life carnivore diet has been good to me and HammerHouse is for life,” Coleman said in the video.

Mark Coleman has started training again this year. The former heavyweight champion has not fought since leaving the UFC for a second time in 2010. He has not been in good health for the past few years. Coleman suffered a heart attack four years ago and has had a long struggle with alcoholism. He also went through the suite of injuries that are part of a fighter’s career.
