When Jake Paul left the Desert Diamond Arena, very few had expected him to pull off an upset victory against the UFC legend, Anderson Silva. The YouTube-star-turned-prizefighter defeated the former UFC champion by a unanimous decision on Oct. 29. Since then, the social media star is at the center of attention. While the undefeated boxer has made a stride in his combat sports career, social media remains an unforgiving place.

In a recent episode of the podcast ‘The Schaub Show’, the retired UFC star Brendan Schaub addressed the conspiracy theories regarding the Anderson loss. In the same segment, the MMA fighter-turned-analyst also pointed out the hate some celebrities get on social media.

What did Schaub say about Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva?

The former UFC fighter started the conversation by mentioning the conspiracy theory regarding the Paul vs Silva fight. Schaub in particular referred to the videos that showed the ‘Spider‘ diving. While rebutting the same videos as doctored, the standup comic also expressed concerns about the million views the videos got.

Following this, ‘The Sting’ analyzed the cause of these accusations. Later on, he declared, “All this stuff is confirmation bias.”

Further, the 39-year-old mentioned that confirmation bias fed this narrative. In addition, people chose to ignore the other 9 angles where the Brazilian fighter indeed felt the impact of Paul Logan’s right hand.

Afterward, the 10-5 record holder compared the hate Jake Paul received from the boxing and UFC audience with other celebrity stars.

Other celebrities getting the flake

Schaub continued and pointed out that we lived in a world of social media where people had to be repeatedly told that it was not real. Subsequently, the podcast host put forth concern for the hate Machine Gun Kelly and Drake got.

The retired MMA fighter questioned the not-so-apparent reality. Thus, he called it “weird,” and later on added, “They sell out every venue, though. If so many people hate them, why are they selling every venue out? Why are their album sales trending number one all over the place?”

While he called the hate on social media strange, he also asked an important question. Hence, Schaub asked, “If social media was so real, how these guys making a living?”
