Dustin Poirier: Remembering Peyton Murphy
Poirier has achieved remarkable success in the UFC Lightweight division, facing off with renowned fighters like Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, and Michael Chandler. But what’s even more impressive is his charity work – which exceeds his accolades in the octagon.
‘The Diamond’ had become a new ray of hope for Peyton Murphy, a 23-year-old cancer patient. Murphy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in 2017 when he was 17 years old. The courageous Murphy battled cancer for 6 years before passing away on March 23 this year. The news came as a shock to the UFC fighter, who mourned the tragic loss of his “brother,” joined in by fans and fellow fighters.
Recently, Poirier shared a touching tribute on his Instagram story, reposting a photo of Murphy from their visit to Las Vegas. Alongside the photo, Poirier wrote a heartfelt caption that read, “Miss you, brother.”
