Montana De La Rosa is all set to land against Andrea Lee at UFC Louisville on June 8, 2024, at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The flyweight bout is bound to excite the fight fans, even though the main event is taken up by Nassourdine Imavov and Jared Cannonier. De La Rosa, with 12 wins and 9 losses in her record, is coming up to turn her three-fight losing streak into a win streak. On the other side, Lee has the same number of losses but one extra win under her belt. She, too, is looking to get a win and overturn her four-fight losing streak.

Associated with the Genesis BJJ and Elevation Fight Team, fans have often wondered about the roots of De La Rosa. Let’s take a deep dive into the flyweight mixed martial artist’s ethnicity and origins, shall we?

De La Rosa hails from a place that is linked to her first name. If you’ve guessed it already, congratulations! Previously known as Montana Stewart, the flyweight fighter was born in Helena, Montana, to Scott and Laura Stewart. She was raised and brought up in Azle, Texas, where she began her training in the world of martial arts. Although not much is known about her folks, with many fight fans doubting her to be Mexican, it is safe to say that she is a proud American.

The flyweight is married to Mark De La Rosa, also a contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Needless to say, martial arts run in the De La Rosa family. Her daughter, Zaylyn, began rolling on the jiu-jitsu mats as soon as she was old enough to do so.

The 29-year-old flyweight mixed martial artist entered the Octagon in The Ultimate Fighter season 26 and returned to fight in the very next season of TUF. She made her name known to the world as she defeated Nadia Kassem with an armbar at UFC 234, in the second round. But it isn’t like she will be facing Lee for the first time. UFC Louisville will witness a rematch between Lee and De La Rosa.

De La Rosa went on, winning some fights and then losing some. But it is her next fight with Andrea Lee that will determine whether she can turn around her losing streak in the UFC.

The flyweight bout between De La Rosa and Lee

The Montana-born fighter will face Andrea Lee for the second time. De La Rosa and Lee fought for the first time at UFC on ESPN+ 12, back in October 2019, which was held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville. Although De La Rosa gave tough competition to her opponent, it was Lee who snatched the victory via a unanimous decision.

‘KGB’ is coming off a loss against Miranda Maverick at UFC 298. On the other hand, Montana De La Rosa is also coming off a defeat, with her last win dating back three years. While De La Rosa is a one-trick pony with the same grappling skills in her arsenal, she is a bad matchup for the Louisiana native, owing to her weakness in defensive grappling.

Both of the fighters would try their best to clinch a victory. However, the outcome of the bout is something that only time has the power to tell. But what do you think? Will De La Rosa be able to turn her three-fight skid into a win? Will she be able to redeem herself and defeat Lee? Let us know in the comments down below.
