Having a close bond with Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann has dominated the MMA cage quite a few times in her career. Exercising her superior grappling and striking skills in the Octagon, ‘Meatball’ has won almost half of her total victories via KO/TKO and submissions. Impressive, right? But even someone like McCann wasn’t free from defeats.

Although she lost just one bout in her time before joining the UFC, the MMA promotion witnessed the Brit losing a few more times. Let’s take a closer look at the Englishwoman’s MMA record.

McCann began her journey in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, back in 2018, debuting against Gillian Robertson. Unfortunately, this also marked her very first loss in the MMA promotion, as Robertson took control and submitted McCann via a rear naked choke. Needless to say, the first loss fueled her up and she went on to win three consecutive fights.

Then came the Britisher’s second loss. In 2020, Talia Santos defeated ‘Meatball’ via a unanimous decision. Her next bout also resulted in an unfathomable loss as Lara Fritzen rose victorious over the English fighter via unanimous decision. Yet, McCann wasn’t ready to give up. Losses are a part of the process. One simply can’t outrun them. She had to make a decision and soon.

The fourth loss that the English mixed martial artist faced was against Erin Blanchfield, at UFC 281. Blanchfield is without a doubt, one of the most formidable fighters in the women’s flyweight division. McCann wasn’t able to overcome the youngster’ challenge and lost the bout within the first round, as ‘Cold Blooded’ executed a successful kimura.

‘Meatball’ went on to lose yet another fight in the organization. It was against Julija Stoliarenko in 2023. The bout didn’t even run for 2 minutes, as Stoliarenko pinned McCann with an armbar. McCann had no choice but to tap out within the very first round. But that was the last of it.

Has Molly McCann lost outside the UFC? Her overall MMA record

‘Meatball’ had a pretty impressive record as an amateur mixed martial artist. She was undefeated, with 3 wins under her belt. As a professional, she won her first bout via ground and pound. However, the first loss of her MMA career popped up when she entered XFC International 12 to fight Vanessa Melo. Thereafter, she proceeded to go on a 6-fight winning streak before entering the UFC.

Needless to say, McCann’s record of 14 wins and 6 losses speaks for her fighting prowess. The Liverpool resident is currently on a 1-fight winning streak. But did you know that she had to change divisions for it?

Molly McCann changes division after recent loss

The defeat against Stoliarenko devastated McCann. Fighting as a flyweight was taking a pretty heavy toll on the Englishwoman. To take her mind off of the UFC, she even proceeded to compete in a grappling championship under the banner of Polaris. No doubt, she emerged victorious in the event. But her prime focus was on winning at the UFC. For this, she had to take a major step.

Following her last loss, McCann took to Instagram and shared a post. In the caption, she expressed how upset she was with her 2 back-to-back losses. She further wrote, “We have one more adjustment to make and I believe that will make all the difference in the world, the smallest in the division makes it tough when the opponents are so much bigger. So for me it’s time to drop down and face the girls who are the same size!”

The change of weight class from flyweight to the strawweight division worked wonders! McCann went up against Diana Belbita, and with just one second left for the first round to conclude, defeated her opponent via an armbar. Now, she is all set to take the fight to Bruna Brasil at UFC 304.
