From the Nogueira brothers to the Diaz brothers, UFC has seen a plethora of siblings throughout the years. However, one of the most prominent sibling duos in the UFC right now is the Usman brothers – Kamaru and Mohammed Usman.
Making his UFC debut in 2015, Kamaru Usman had an undefeated run for the next 7 years and dominated the entire welterweight division. He won the welterweight title in 2019 and defended it 6 times before losing it to Leon Edwards.
Mohammed Usman, on the other hand, is relatively new to the UFC, having made his debut on The Ultimate Fighter season 30 in 2020. He impressed in the show and was given a UFC contract. Since then, he has won all four of his fights, including his most recent victory over Junior Tafa at UFC Vegas 71.

Kamaru Usman supporting his brother from the corner
In the fight against Tafa, Usman showed great composure and discipline. He stuck to his game plan and earned a unanimous decision victory. Interestingly, Kamaru Usman was in his brother’s corner for the fight and played a crucial role in helping Mohammed secure the win. After the fight, Mohammed revealed that Kamaru had given him some simple but effective advice between rounds.
Kamaru kept telling him to “don’t rush, stay patient.” This advice was valuable as it helped Mohammed maintain his focus and avoided any silly mistakes.
“Oh my brother just kept saying the same thing over and over again. ‘Don’t rush, stay patient.’ When you rush your heart rate goes up. Your heart rate is already scoring through the roof. When you rush it goes up a little bit more and that makes you lose track of focus. The mission is not to go in there and rush. The mission is to go in there and execute and do what we need to do to get the job done. I’m glad that we got that done today.”
