MMA history has seen a handful of uneventful and underwhelming fights in its short history that fans would prefer to forget. Some of the more infamous ones are the Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou fight or the Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero fight that left people scratching their heads in confusion. Just recently, another UFC bout involving William Knight also was slammed by the fans after the light heavyweight’s disappointing performance. However, among all of these, one particular fight ended up being so disappointing to the point that fans almost find it funny now was the Kimbo Slice vs Dada 5000 bout that took place in 2016.

Kevin Ferguson, a.k.a Kimbo Slice, and Dhafir Harris a.k.a. Dada 5000 fought each other at Bellator 149 in what now has become one of the most hilarious bouts in MMA history. Although extremely underwhelming, the apparent lack of cardio and conditioning from both ended up making this fight somewhat of a spectacle. While it has been seven years precisely today, the comedy that this fight unknowingly produced has turned it into one of the classics, albeit for the wrong reason.

A fight that culminated due to the animosity between the former friends eventually ended up as an extremely underwhelming affair. The fact that both came from a backyard brawling and street fighting background, and were also known for their power, had initially worked well in hyping up the fight. But on the fight day, the story that played out was something that couldn’t have gone any worse for the duo.

Although Kimbo Slice started out well, even securing an early takedown, the fight eventually just went downhill as time progressed. Both fighters got extremely fatigued and were barely able to hurt each other with their strikes. Finally, in the third round, the official stopped the bout after the former TUF contestant was able to drop Dada 5000 with a strike that looked more due to fatigue than Slice’s power.

This bout eventually turned out to be the last for both fighters. Unfortunately, Ferguson also passed away just months following this bout due to a heart condition.

MMA twitter reacts after ‘MMA History today’ refreshes memories of the fight

Popular combat sports page ‘MMA history today’ shared a tweet marking the seventh anniversary of Bellator 149 with a still from the infamous fight. Fans immediately thronged under the Twitter thread, recalling their memory of the fight. Although despite how disappointing it was, many of them also made sure to show their appreciation for the late Kimbo Slice.

Most of the fans initially just slammed and poked fun at the fight.

One MMA fan even called it the lowest point of Bellator.

Right under that tweet, someone said the exact opposite, sarcastically pointing out that it was the greatest fight in Beaalot FC

Brazilian fans too talked about how infamous it was in Brazil.

Another had a suggestion to remove any records of the fight for the sake of the fighters.

Someone also compared it to the Lewis vs Ngannou bout, which many would feel was equally disappointing.

And one can only wonder if this fan was serious or just joking.
