Is Jamahal Hill using the Ilia Topuria method ahead of his UFC 300 bout? Topuria famously named himself the featherweight champion ahead of his bout, and in doing so, prophesied his own coming as the title holder. Is this a sure-shot way of winning the title fight? Perhaps Hill believes so.

Hill won the vacant title by defeating Pereira’s coach and former UFC fighter, Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 last year. The title now sits on Pereira’s shoulder after he knocked out Jiri Prochazka in their UFC 295 main event. Now, Hill has a chance of taking it back but looks like he’s already won in his mind.

He’s changed his bio too, to ‘Undisputed UFC LHW Champion of The World’ just after Dana White announced his fight against Alex Pereira for the UFC 300 main event. Now, it is important to note that Hill was the champion right before relinquishing his title in July last year.

“Nothing but a shot at gold next,” he tweeted earlier in response to the announcement. Securing the victory would mean big things to Hill and the division. He would become the only two-time UFC LHW champion of the world since Jon Jones.

Interestingly, Prochazka is also on the same card fighting against #5 Aleksandar Rakić. Perhaps a victory for either of the two could spell out a title opportunity against whoever takes the belt home after the main event. But do fans share Hill’s mindset about it all?

UFC fans are divided over Jamahal Hill’s bio change

Jamahal Hill is currently at a 12-1 record in his professional MMA career. Some fans are convinced that he’s not going to go ahead with that because Pereira might just defeat him after all. Here’s how everyone reacted to an Instagram post about Hill changing his bio.

“He can call himself a champion, but he’s not 13-1. That’s FACTS”

Cringe or not, Hill has certainly proven himself before and the fighter packs a punch that has taken him to the heights he’s achieved today. No one should or can count him out at this point. ‘Poatan’ is a fierce opponent, but the main event is hype-worthy because it could just be a blow-for-blow matchup. Will Jamahal Hill come out on top? Or will his confident claims age poorly? We will find out on April 13th.
