The main event of UFC Fight Night was an action-packed fight. It saw Valentina Shevchenko fight Women’s Flyweight champ Alexa Grasso for the second time since the former lost to her at UFC 285. The fight went the distance, and it was a very close fight. In fact, Shevchenko showed a lot of heart in that fight as she suffered a possibly ‘fractured’ thumb in the first round. However, she battled her opponent and the pain marvelously.

In the end, despite all her efforts, the match ended in a draw, as a result of which the champion, Alexa Grasso, retained her title. Shevchenko didn’t seem to be too pleased with this decision and found it quite unfair. She thought she had won three rounds and Grasso should have two to her name. She went on to say that the Mexican Independence Day could have been a major reason that the judges decided as they did.

This marks two unsuccessful bouts for Valentina Shevchenko against Alexa Grasso. Although a trilogy fight is the imminent line of thought for one and all, in a recent post-fight interview, Shevchenko clearly said that she will currently be focusing on healing up and recovering so that she can go back to training.

Tracy Cortez’s heartwarming gesture towards the Cejudo Family

Another exhilarating fight that fans witnessed at Noche UFC was yet another Women’s Flyweight fight between Tracy Cortez and Jasmine Jasudavicius. The fight, as thrilling as it was, ended on a really emotional note.

Cortez secured a win over Jasudavicius by decision. And in the end, she chose to dedicate her win to Gloria Nelly Cejudo – the sister of former UFC champ Henry Cejudo. According to the news, Gloria Cejudo was fighting cancer since 2021. On 15 September 2023, she lost her long-standing battle and succumbed to the deadly disease. What’s even more heartbreaking is that she was only 4 days away from celebrating her 41st birthday.
