As if it was not clear that the UFC is the premiere MMA organization in the world, a recent report by ‘Forbes‘ revealed that Dana White‘s promotion is not only the biggest MMA promotion but also the biggest promotion in all of combat sports. Valued at $11.3 billion, the UFC is the only promotion to have achieved an 11-figure valuation.

According to the said report, the Las Vegas-based promotion also earned the highest revenue in 2023 with a sum of $1.29 billion, leaving behind the likes of ONE Championship, PFL, and even Matchroom Boxing by a big margin. Despite being valued at $11.3 billion, the UFC could not edge past WWE in terms of revenue. The professional wrestling giants reportedly earned $400 million more than Dana White’s promotion. It remains to be seen how the end of 2024 turns out for the UFC.

Max Holloway unimpressed by Ilia Topuria’s BMF title demands

Ilia Topuria recently admitted on ‘The MMA Hour‘, that he wanted to give a title shot to Max Holloway. ‘Blessed’ scored arguably the biggest win of his career against Justin Gaethje, who he knocked out in the final second of the fifth round at UFC 300. Topuria mentioned that he was willing to put his title up for grabs against Holloway but on one condition. ‘El Matador’ wants the newly minted BMF to put his title on the line as well.

Max Holloway is open to the idea, but also jibed at the featherweight champion by claiming that a real BMF does not set conditions for a fight. “We’ll see what happens. I mean, that’s not a very BMF way to say it, you know? A BMF wouldn’t be like, ‘I’m not going to fight this guy unless this…,” ‘Blessed’ stated on ‘The Jim Rome Show‘. It is an exciting time for the featherweight division, as Ilia Topuria has many opponents to consider since Alexander Volkanovski and Sean O’Malley have also expressed their urge to fight the Georgian-Spaniard.

No mistakes made by the ref in the Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill fight, claims Daniel Cormier

Alex Pereira’s win over Jamahal Hill has been marred by claims about a referee error in the main event of UFC 300. Moments before the KO, ‘Sweet Dreams’ accidentally landed a kick in the groin region of ‘Poatan’. Referee Herb Dean tried to call for a time-out. However, Pereira stopped the referee and continued fighting and landed a knockout blow after a few seconds.

Meanwhile, Dean stepped back without uttering a single word. This has caused MMA enthusiasts to point out that the referee was in the wrong and should have stopped the fight and reset the proceedings. However, another veteran referee, John McCarthy, who is well-versed in the laws of MMA, believes that Dean did nothing wrong, and apparently, UFC commentator and former double champion, Daniel Cormier, seemed to agree with that statement.

Believing that referees know best, Daniel Cormier backed John McCarthy’s explanation, claiming that he is the most qualified to comment on such situations. “For the record on the poatan knockout, I was posing the question. If anybody knows it’s John McCarthy. So if he says everything was done the correct way, I believe him,” wrote ‘DC’. Do you agree with Cormier? Let us know in the comments section.
