Is Dana White taking the UFC to Netflix?

UFC 313 was arguably the most important pay-per-view of the year so far, given that it featured the promotion’s biggest star at the moment, Alex Pereira. However, reports came in that ESPN was having issues while broadcasting that event, which has reportedly led to a rift between the network and Dana White and Co. So what now? Well, it is speculated that the UFC could follow in WWE’s footsteps and move to Netflix.

The UFC’s deal with ESPN is expected to expire this year anyway, and rumor has it that Dana White is already working on exploring his options. According to a report from NY Post, the UFC is also struggling with PPV buys, and that has affected many fighters who have clauses for PPV points.

Well, its sister promotion has done pretty well since they moved to Netflix in January, and the streaming platform has even started streaming combat sports events recently. The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight has been the biggest highlight of Netflix. But then again, there’s Amazon as well, and it will be interesting to see what the UFC execs do when the ESPN deal ends for good. Before you give us your thoughts on this scenario, let’s take a look at the next story.

Marvin Vettori’s embarrassing wardrobe issue

‘The Italian Dream’ didn’t get the return that he desired, as he seemed happy to get back in action, but failed to make it count. Not only did he lose to Roman Dolidze at UFC Vegas 104’s main event, he also felt victim to an embarrassing moment. As he walked out to the Octagon, Marvin Vettori waited on the cageside for a few minutes, creating confusion among viewers as to what the delay was about. But later, it appeared that he had forgotten his protective cup.

It’s mandatory for male fighters to put on the cups before stepping inside the Octagon, and guess what? Marvin Vettori did get hit in the groin area during the fight, so it is evident how important these protective guards are. However, this is not the first time that the Italian star had faced an issue of this sport because a similar situation happened when he fought Israel Adesanya at UFC 263. While things may not have worked out for Vettori, it sure did for Roman Dolidze, who called out a couple of former champions.

Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker may have a possible fight in their hands

Israel Adesanya, for the first time, has witnessed his career going through a downward spiral of late, with three consecutive losses, dropping the middleweight belt in the process. On the other hand, Robert Whittaker just hasn’t been able to build momentum because, as soon as he wins a fight, he loses the next one. As a result, they’ve both found themselves out of title contention for now, but the two veterans could get back on track with a fight against Roman Dolidze, who recently wished to step up in competition.

“There are two realistic fights for me. It’s Whittaker or Adesanya. Let’s go. Just give me date,” Roman Dolidze stated in his post-fight interview. The Georgian star was so amped up after beating Marvin Vettori that he wished to fight as soon as a few days later. “And he [Dana White] know I can fight in five days. Just give a little bit time to make weight,” he added. But we all know that isn’t going to happen. But it does sound like we could have a good potential matchup waiting as we wait to see what Dana White decides to go for.
