The daily strenuous and rigid schedules can often sway MMA enthusiasts away from the hottest stories in the sport. As such, we have compiled the most noteworthy moments in our favorite sport over the last 24 hours in our latest daily roundup edition. To start this edition, we’ll first look at what UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov had to say about the missed opportunity of the fight against Tony Ferguson.
Thereafter, we will shift our attention to the news of Joe Rogan, apparently admitting a mistake he made in his recent JRE episode. Finally, we’ll end this edition of the daily roundup with a Chinese UFC star who seems to be going down a path similar to Alex Pereira.

Surely fans would agree – the lightweight division missed out on one of the biggest fights ever between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘The Eagle’ wanted it, as per his recent statements, and he’s disappointed that it did not come to fruition. However, Nurmagomedov claims that he would have been the worst opponent for ‘El Cucuy’, primarily because of the style the Dagestan legend fought with.

“I feel a little bit sad, but at the same time, I always understood that my game is tough for him… The only chance he had was a lucky punch,” Khabib told in a recently released interview from 2021 on the ‘Inspire Me Podcast’. He didn’t forget the fact that on the several times that the fight against Tony Ferguson was booked, it fell off due to both fighters having issues of their own. “We’re supposed to fight five times… this is not under my control,” ‘The Eagle added. Now, let’s move over to the second big story of the last 24 hours.
Joe Rogan admits to messing up on his stance about zoos
Joe Rogan recently had standup comedian Raanan Hershberg on his podcast when the topic for a brief moment was zoos. Apparently, the JRE host had been to such establishments back when his children were infants. However, over time, Rogan has come to realize that how zoos keep animals isn’t the right thing to do because, like many others, he believes confinement of animals is nothing less than a crime.
“I’m a hypocrite, because I took my kids to them because I want my kids to be able to see these animals because it’s kind of cool to see a 2-year-old staring at a hippo. But the reality is they’re prisons. They’re prisons for animals that didn’t do anything wrong,” Joe Rogan stated on the #2192 episode of JRE. He’d further double down the fact that keeping animals in cages isn’t as “natural” as animals who succumb to nature while living in the habitat they belong in.

Wang Cong could be following in similar footsteps to those of Alex Pereira and fight Valentina Shevchenko
One of the most intriguing career trajectories has been Alex Pereira’s rise to two-weight champion in the shortest amount of time possible. But what excited fans even more was his rivalry with Israel Adesanya. After facing each other twice and winning against the former 2-time champion in kickboxing, ‘Poatan’ conquered ‘Izzy’ in the UFC as well. Now, another fighter has shown a fixation to follow a similar path, and that’s the former flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko‘s kickboxing rival, Wang Cong.

Wang Cong has a history with Valentina Shevchenko as the Chinese fighter has one kickboxing win over the former UFC champion in 2015. After her recent win over Victoria Leonardo, she’s welcomed the Ukrainian star for a fight inside the Octagon. “You guys only know I beat Shevchenko in kickboxing… I think comparing Valentina Shevchenko to me is that she has more experience… I believe my striking is better than her… If she takes the fight, [I can beat her] any time,” Wang Cong said after UFC Vegas 96, as reported by ‘MMA Junkie’.
