As Conor McGregor pleaded guilty, Khabib Nurmagomedov took to his Instagram stories to share ESPN’s report on the incident, without a single caption emphasizing Nurmagomedov’s vindication at the grave nature of McGregor’s indictment. In addition to ‘Eagle’s post, Jake Paul took to his X handle to attack both Dana White as well as Conor McGregor, “Dana [White] hits his wife. Conor’s convicted of r–e. But I’m the bad guy?”
The former dual-weight champion issued a response to Paul, “No you’re a little gay nerd”, but later deleted the post on X (formerly Twitter). While Conor McGregor’s reputation has been hit pretty badly, it’s too early to tell the effects of his indictment on his fighting career. Moving on, let’s look at the UFC head honcho’s potential Netflix deal, after what he witnessed on November 15th.

Dana White might ink a deal with Netflix after Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson’s success
According to reports, Netflix raked in a massive 108 million viewers for their boxing bout broadcast. Top executives of the billion-dollar entertainment giant have repeatedly asserted in the past that they would never jump into the live sports arena, but this boxing bout might have changed that stance. The streaming platform is reportedly venturing into the sports arena with two NFL games scheduled for Christmas Day, setting the stage for a major move in early 2025. The company has secured a landmark $5 billion, 10-year deal to host WWE’s flagship series, Monday Night Raw. With all these developments, Dana White seems set to ink yet another blockbuster deal.
The UFC CEO Dana White believes that there’s a possibility of the UFC and Netflix collaborating, as he asserted that Netflix missed an opportunity by not entering the live sports arena earlier. “I always believed it. I always thought that Netflix was crazy not to get into live sports sooner than they did. Those guys truly have a global footprint. I think they’re late to the game. It was a big success,” said White.
Further emphasizing the UFC’s PPV might across the globe, White is convinced that the company will perform well with their next broadcasting deal – “We’re the biggest pay-per-view provider on the planet I think we’re going to do very well going into this next deal. I think as we go into our negotiations in 2025, this thing could play out in a lot of different ways. Obviously, we could be with Disney and ESPN for however many years or you could see all our content get chopped up like WWE and NFL does and different products going to different networks. I don’t know how that’s going to play out as we get closer to getting into these negotiations, but it is a possibility.”
A deal ͏wit͏h Netflix could propel the UFC into a new͏ wave ͏of growth, but it ͏would ͏likely mean leaving ͏ESPN behind. Regardless͏ of ͏th͏e out͏come, the colossal move will mark a major ͏vi͏c͏tory for Dana White. ͏Moving on, l͏et’͏s͏ ͏shift our focu͏s to the fate of th͏e ͏ba͏ntamweight ͏divi͏sion.
Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili might happen before the Umar Nurmagomedov fight
At UFC 306, Merab Dvalishvili routed Sean O’Malley to be the new bantamweight champion of the world. This was a shocker for the MMA community as he outperformed ‘Suga’ in every parameter. After the clash, the combat sports community demanded a rematch because Sean O’Malley had a stellar run of being undefeated in seven fights, with one title defense before facing the Georgian. Furthermore, O’Malley never really showcased his striking abilities in the match.
When Merab Dvalishvili won, he immediately began rallying as the next title contender. However, according to a rising bantamweight fighter, the promotion might book the rematch between Dvalishvili and O’Malley before Umar Nurmagomedov can get a chance at the title.
While having a conversation with MMA Canada, Serhiy Sidey emphasized that the promotion might book Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley sooner than expected, “Yeah, honestly I see both. But I feel like the O’Malley-Merab fight would be the move the UFC is probably going to pull, man. Like again, I feel like that’s where the views are. I feel like at the end of the day Merab’s awesome and stuff but I think the UFC wants O’Malley to be the champ, man [laughs].

He further added, “I think he’s the draw, right, he gets the views. So I think they’re going to do that rematch, man. But if you want my honest opinion, I think if Umar fights either of them, Umar is going to take that. That guy is like a different level, man. So it’ll be interesting, man”. Umar Nurmagomedov has been calling out the promotion for a shot at the bantamweight title but it appears that the promotion has a different plan for the division. Regardless, Dana White should be cautioned as the former champ, Petr Yan is looking to find his way back to title contention.

While having a conversation with the media, the former bantamweight champion emphasized that he will be looking to fight for the title after dealing with Deiveson Figueiredo, “Merab said himself that Figueiredo is a true No. 11 contender who’s supposed to fight for the belt, so if I beat him, what does that make me? I believe that makes me the No. 1 contender for the belt.”
With Yan also going for the title shot, the bantamweight division looks quite busy at the moment. Regardless, what are your thoughts on the latest round-up? State your thoughts in the comments below.
