The Olympics – the apex platform for the world’s best athletes, who create everlasting memories with impressive feats and accolades. But hold on, there’s a catch! Recently, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan reminisced about what led to people establishing the Olympics. “Back then, there was no television revenue. No one was making billions and billions and billions of dollars, so the Olympics started with a very pure intention of just winning, being the best,” Rogan stated on the #161 episode of the JRE MMA Show.

With more than 100 years since its first event, the Olympics has now grown to become a multi-billion dollar undertaking. The 2024 Paris Olympics itself is reportedly worth $9.1 billion. But when it comes to athletes getting paid, Joe Rogan claims they never get what they deserve because of the interest of the stakeholders who are responsible for holding the event and the same could happen this year, too.

“Somewhere along the line, it became this f***ing enormous business, and the athletes never got cut in… What can they do? No one has any power… they’re just stealing, stealing money,” the 56-year-old added. What do you make of this revelation? Let us know in the comments below after you take a look at the next story.

Paddy Pimblett could steal Conor McGregor’s spot

July 10, 2021, was the last time we witnessed the global MMA superstar, Conor McGregor, compete inside the Octagon. It’s been over three years now, and even Jon Jones returned last year after he went on a similar sabbatical. Will the ‘Fighting Irish’ do the same as the heavyweight champ? Well, we don’t know that yet, but we have some news on his fight against Michael Chandler, and as far as UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes, McGregor could get replaced by rising Liverpool star, Paddy Pimblett.

“If Michael Chandler does not get the fight with Conor, this [Paddy Pimblett], to me, looks like the perfect replacement,” Chael Sonnen stated on ‘The Good Guy/Bad Guy’ show. Paddy Pimblett has impressed critics and fans with his impressive submission win over King Green this past weekend, as he came out to a roaring Manchester crowd. Could Dana White consider him in place of McGregor? That remains to be seen.

Tony Ferguson tells Dana White that he’s not done yet

Tony Ferguson’s 7 consecutive losses from 2020 to 2023 were enough for Dana White to start urging ‘El Cucuy’ to consider retirement. “I would love to see Tony retire,” said the UFC CEO almost a couple of months back. Well, it seems like the former interim champion isn’t keen on doing what the 55-year-old has asked of him as Ferguson plans to keep fighting even after his fight this weekend against Michael Chiesa in Abu Dhabi.

“We want Dana to do a lot of sh*t last for him too. So, I mean we can’t discredit that one either… I don’t feel like this is going to be my last fight,” Tony Ferguson told the media recently. He also revealed to have indulged in sparring sessions for the first time in seven years, hoping to get back to his old self. How do you think the fight will pan out this weekend?
