Israel Adesanya got arrested for driving under the Influence

A few weeks before Israel Adesanya suffered an upset loss at UFC 293, he was arrested in Auckland on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, ‘Izzy’ had an alcohol concentration of 87 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood, which was over the legal limit of 50 milligrams. Subsequently, he recently made an appearance at the court, where he pleaded guilty.

Just like many UFC fighters in the past, Adesanya could not avoid brushing off the law. If he’s found guilty, he could face up to three months in prison or a fine of $4,500. However, his legal team has issued a request for discharge without conviction.
The former UFC champion took full responsibility for his ill-advised actions. He provided a statement to the ‘New Zealand Herald’, apologizing to his fans, family, community, and his team. Similarly, he advised people who look up to him to refrain from replicating such unacceptable behavior. We will have to wait and see what happens in the months to come.
Conor McGregor’s compatriot Ian Garry to fight at UFC 296
With UFC 294 approaching fast, UFC CEO Dana White recently announced some blockbuster fights for the remaining pay-per-views of the year. However, there were no signs that indicated the return of Conor McGregor. Instead, White decided to book a fight for his compatriot Ian Garry in the last PPV of 2023.

‘The Future’ will take on veteran Vicente Luque at UFC 296. ‘The Silent Assassin’ recently made a triumphant return at UFC Vegas 78 against Rafael dos Anjos after recovering from a life-threatening injury. He initially wanted to fight Dustin Poirier. However, the UFC CEO decided to pit him against the rising Irish star to end the year on a high. Meanwhile, it will be Garry’s fourth fight of the year.
Deiveson Figueiredo to make bantamweight debut

‘Deus da Guerra’ is undoubtedly a flyweight legend in the UFC. He is a former two-time champion, who achieved almost everything he can in the division. However, after his historic 4-fight rivalry with Brandon Moreno, Deiveson Figueiredo has finally decided to move up in weight to the bantamweight division.

Figueiredo will take on Rob Font, who expressed his desire to fight the former champion after his UFC 287 win against Adrian Yanez, on December 2. Moreover, ‘Deus da Guerra’ will have to take a long route to the flyweight title after his UFC 283 loss. hence, it made sense for him to jump to the highly competitive bantamweight division for a new challenge.
