Russia as well as Belarus has been banned by the International Olympic Committee(IOC) from participating in the Grand Sporting Festival this year, following the invasion of Ukraine. This decision was taken back in 2022. Athletes from both nations were allowed to compete at the event but they were barred from representing their nation on the global stage. UFC’s lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev called out the entire IOC for their double standard on this topic.

Taking to his Instagram, Makhachev wrote, “I enjoyed watching wrestling these days. It’s a pity that dirty politics got into such a courageous sport. People who gave their whole lives to this sport and got a chance to compete at the Olympic Games are forced to stay at home and watch the Olympics on TV. The double standards of dirty countries deprive our athletes of what they have been striving for all their lives.”

The Paris chapter of the Olympics has been one of the most controversial due to the opening ceremony and the subpar treatment of athletes. Makhachev’s statement only adds fuel to the fire. Well, now that the Olympics 2024 is done, and let us move forward to Dustin Poirier, who appears to have a demand for Dana White.

The arena can hold more than 13,500 people at once. Will Dana White agree to Poirier’s demand? Well, time will tell. Regardless, let us now move on forward to Belal Muhammad.
