Fans, after the turn of this decade, have witnessed the tragic downward trajectory of lightweight legend Tony Ferguson’s career. Having assessed ‘El Cucuy’s situation, Michael Bisping had no hesitation when he claimed that the end was near for the former interim champion. “I think his time as a mixed martial artist has come to an end. It’s a sad reality [but] it happens to everybody,” Michael Bisping stated on his YouTube channel.
Tony Ferguson is now on an 8-fight losing streak, similar to the situation B.J. Penn found himself before his eventual release from the UFC. Similarly, the 40-year-old 155-pound veteran could meet a similar fate if Dana White decides to go down that path. “B.J. Penn, he was a gut that Dana absolutely loved but forced him to retire by terminating his contract, if I’m not mistaken… fighters need protecting from themselves,” Bisping added.
Do you think that’s going to be the case for Ferguson? Let us know about it after taking a look at the next big story.
Michael Chandler considering other options apart from Conor McGregor
While Conor McGregor‘s been away for more than three years, his later comeback opponent, Michael Chandler, has also been out for a couple of years. He’s been looking for that ‘red panty night’, which Chael Sonnen claims to be a real thing in the UFC, but the growing uncertainty of that fight taking place has made ‘Iron’ reconsider his options. As such, Chandler let out a statement about his move if the McGregor fight ends up not happening at all.
“As much as I respect Conor, my legacy is not hinged upon this fight. I am running my own race, and I’m continuing to move forward,” Michael Chandler told Crypto Casino, ‘Lucky Block’, reported by ‘MMA Junkie’. “I am at a point now where we are looking at all of the options and not just fighting Conor… There’s always going to be life after Conor if this fight never comes to fruition.” It’s been long overdue for Chandler to make his return soon, given that at the age of 38, he may not have much time left in his career.

The bad blood between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis will be resolved this weekend at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. Both fighters have commendable records and it could be difficult to predict who’d emerge as the victor on August 17. Meanwhile, former champion Robert Whittaker shared his prediction for the fight, claiming that this fight could go either way. “They are 50-50 odds, that is how much I think either one can sway,” ‘The Reaper’ told ‘MMArcade Podcast’.

For Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker suggests he keep Dricus Du Plessis at arm’s length, and that would increase his chances of winning. Meanwhile, ‘The Reaper’ also suggested the champion to keep fighting like he has so far, and that could be an advantage for the South African. “I think there is a 50 percent chance Izzy kind of keeps him at his end of the jab, utilizes that spacing, doesn’t have his back get put against the fence, defend some takedowns, and ultimately wins by decision. I also think there is a 50 percent chance, Dricus does what he did to Strickland,” Whittaker added.
Well, we’ll get to know if this is an accurate assessment of what goes down this weekend in the big-time 185lbs clash. What are your thoughts about the latest developments in the MMA world? Let us know in the comments below.
