Another 24 hours have gone by and more developments have taken place in the world of MMA. To keep up with the biggest headlines, we have yet another daily roundup lined up for you. We will start with Dana White, who has taken the decision to change UFC gloves after the recent controversy surrounding Chris Weidman. Then we will shift our focus to MMA legend Chael Sonnen, who weighed in on Charles Oliveira‘s pick to fight Conor McGregor instead of the lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Finally, we will sum up the daily news compilation with the payout details of Sean Strickland for his fight against Paulo Costa.

Is Dana White changing UFC gloves?

Eyepokes have been one of the major issues in the UFC for a long time. The promotion even tried to get rid of that problem last year when they introduced a new glove at UFC 287. However, it doesn’t seem like that worked because new reports have emerged that Dana White could potentially make another change in the structure of the gloves, all thanks to the recent controversy during the Chris Weidman vs Bruno Silva fight.

Chris Weidman fought Bruno Silva at UFC Atlantic City, and he won the fight. It was his first win since returning from injury, but the win was plagued by controversy. Weidman won the fight via decision, but Silva would later claim that ‘The All-American’ deliberately poked him in the eye, and even announced that he would make an appeal to the New Jersey Athletic Commission. As such, ‘Haymakers‘ have reported that Dana White and co. will be giving a presentation on the new gloves following the weigh-in this weekend. However, the promotion has not confirmed anything of these reports yet.

Chael Sonnen gives his take on Charles Oliveira’s choice to fight Conor McGregor

Former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira does not look like he will go for the title following his fight against Arman Tsarukyan. In the last few days, ‘Do Bronxs’ and his coach have both mentioned wanting to fight Conor McGregor and not Islam Makhachev. Chael Sonnen recently opened up on this situation and said he believes that Oliveira wants no part of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protege. “Oliveira has made it very clear he does not want to fight Islam. He made it clear before they fought in October, of which a paper cut scrapped that one,” the self-proclaimed ‘Bad Guy’ stated on ESPN‘s ‘Good Guy Bad Guy‘ show.

Furthermore, after listening to Charles Oliveira and his coach mentioning a fight against Conor McGregor, Chael Sonnen claimed ‘Do Bronxs’ will find himself in a similar situation to Michael Chandler, and sit on the shelves until ‘The Notorious’ decides he wants to come back. “If you’re sitting around and waiting for Conor McGregor, it means that you’re unemployed,” Sonnen added. It remains to be seen how things unfold following UFC 300.

Former 185-pound champion, the ever-vocal Sean Strickland decided to give fans inside information on X recently. He shared a tweet asking fans to guess how much money he made when he fought Brazilian star, Paulo Costa. ‘Borrachina’ recently claimed that Strickland had declined a fight against him, which was scheduled for UFC 302.

The fans had their guesses and one of them estimated a total of around $400,000. Given that Strickland has made more than a million from a single fight in the past, it was surprising to know that the payout for the Costa fight was much lower than what the fan had guessed. Could it be true? There have been reports that Dricus du Plessis could defend the middleweight strap against Israel Adesanya, but ‘Tarzan’ has yet to get his rematch. Is Strickland running out of favor from Dana White? We will have to see how this story develops in the days to come.
