The UFC CEO had been calling Francis Ngannou’s ambition to compete in a boxing ring as “gimmick fights.” Moreover, he caught wind of this term when Anthony Joshua took a jibe at ‘The Predator’s fight against Tyson Fury. However, ‘AJ’ is now set to take on the Cameroonian-French fighter in a professional bout.

Dana White repeatedly mentioned that a crossover fight between an MMA fighter and a boxer never made sense to him, even when he had Conor McGregor’s back for his fight against Floyd Mayweather. But what Ngannou had to say recently may make the 54-year-old promoter take back his words.

“You know the Tyson one… Like nobody really knows, okay, what’s gonna happen? You have to try to negotiate about everything… So this time around, didn’t even have to… a lot of things were smooth and moving up like this,” Francis Ngannou told Ariel Helwani during a recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’. Unlike the fight against ‘The Gypsy King’, setting up a fight against Joshua was a much easier process for the former UFC champion.

Jon Jones issues a response to Tom Aspinall

Without a shadow of a doubt, Jon Jones is arguably the greatest UFC fighter in history. As such, other fighters would like to call out his name to get some attention, which Tom Aspinall has been doing recently. The interim heavyweight champion has namedropped both Jones’ and Stipe Miocic‘s names, which has seemingly annoyed the undisputed champion.

“Only four recognizable opponents, and already the king of England, must be nice. There will be legendary tales told about you and your infamous call outs,” tweeted Jon Jones, pointing out Tom Aspinall’s lack of accolades compared to him and Stipe Miocic, who is a two-time champion. Nevertheless, the UK fighter has been frustrated with his current position in the division. It remains to be seen if he stops taking Jones’ name as he looks forward to becoming the undisputed champion himself.

The undefeated rising Irish star has been butting heads with a few UFC fighters recently. He has been going back and forth with Sean Strickland and Leon Edwards, but now he’s opened up about the comments Colby Covington made about him and his wife, Layla Anna-Lee. Ian Garry seems to be enraged with ‘Chaos’ words, as the 13-0 fighter revealed his plans to hurt the former interim welterweight champion.

“I’m going to box the ears off Colby Covington for some of the things he has said and there isn’t going to be anyone… to save him,” said Ian Garry. The Irish star also plans to put Covington to sleep and make him shut up. Garry added, “Colby Covington is going to get slept, and I hope I hit him so hard that he is never able to speak again.” We will have to wait and see if these two get the chance to square off inside the Octagon in the future.
