Ronda Rousey calls herself the 'sacrificial lamb' of WMMA—Is she right or just seeking attention?

With another 24 hours in the rearview, the MMA world has given us some new noteworthy headlines, compiled in our latest edition of the daily roundup. To start this compilation, we’ll have a look at some questions that have been raised about the kind of judging and refereeing that happened in UFC Vegas 96. Thereafter, we’ll shift our attention to UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, who made some interesting statements about her role in women’s MMA.

Finally, the roundup will end with the bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, who’s preparing for his big-time clash with Merab Dvalishvili. However, ahead of their clash at the UFC’s biggest-ever undertaking, ‘Suga’ took a serious jibe at the Georgian star and it has backfired pretty heavily.

One of the most disheartening things for fans to witness at UFC Vegas 96 was Angela Hill‘s unanimous decision loss to Tabatha Ricci. Many fans believe that ‘Overkill’ had two of the three rounds in her pocket and should have been the rightful victor, but as it stands now, it’s a defeat. From judging error, MMA legal counsel Erik Magraken pointed out a concerning error from a referee’s end, particularly in the main event.

Caio Borralho remains undefeated in the UFC as he edged past Jared Cannonier via decision. However, Erik Magraken claimed that there was a clear moment in the 5th round when Cannonier fell on the ground after ‘The Natural’ hit him with a fight-ending strike. That should have made the case for the referee to call the fight to a halt because of a walk-off knockout. But that didn’t happen and Magraken didn’t seem too happy about it.

Is Dana White going to rectify that mistake? Let us know your thoughts after you check out the next news on this roundup.

Ronda Rousey claims to have been a scapegoat in the sport that she made her name in

Ronda Rousey is a household name, especially because of the one-of-a-kind career she had in mixed martial arts, bringing female fighters to fight fans’ attention. However, ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ claims to have been bait in the women’s MMA scene. Rousey claimed that when she was starting in the sport with the UFC, most fighters wanted to develop a friendly relationship with everyone, including the fans. That’s when she appeared to adopt the role of the mean girl, which she believes brought interest in the sport.

“One thing I have seen in women’s MMA when I came on the scene… everybody wanted to be universally liked,” Ronda Rousey stated on the ‘Ring the Belle’ podcast. “Nobody wanted to pi** anyone off and it was making everything boring. So I was like, ‘I’ll be your designated b*tch.”

Rousey didn’t seem to care too much about what people thought of her due to adopting a mean personality because it was just for show. “I would just volunteer to be that sacrificial lamb because doesn’t actually affect my life,” ‘Rowdy’ added. Finally, let’s move to our last news piece.

Merab Dvalishvili threatens Sean O’Malley

It seems like the level of heat between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili has reached another level. The Georgian star recently took to social media to issue a fair warning to the bantamweight champion. Dvalishvili was seemingly enraged when O’Malley shrugged off his wrestling skills, but while doing so, ‘Suga’ also took a shot at the people of Georgia. Now, ‘The Machine’ is out for blood and has threatened the champion that they might get it on the streets before getting to September 14.

“[Sean O’Malley] you want to disrespect me – this is one thing – we will be professional and settle it in the cage… but now you and your coach crossed the line and disrespected my country. You will pay for this when I see you outside of the cage,” said Merab Dvalishvili via his X account.
