It’s common knowledge by now that Conor McGregor lost the high-profile civil case brought against him by Nikita Hand in the Dublin High Court. After clinching the interim title against Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title, Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo finally faced off in the Octagon at UFC 194 on December 12th, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. ‘Notorious’ finished arguably the greatest featherweight of all time in the very first round to become the featherweight sensation, and nine years after that McGregor is still celebrating his victory. Regardless, for now, let us move on forward to a man who was the first to KO McGregor, Dustin Poirier, who has plans for his retirement.

Dustin Poirier hints at a last dance after UFC 302

UFC 302 marked the final title run for former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier as he faced reigning champion Islam Makhachev. Despite his best efforts, ‘The Diamond’ was unable to claim the title for himself in his third attempt at UFC undisputed gold. Immediately after that fight, there was speculation in the MMA community about Poirier’s possible retirement, and it appears that ‘Diamond’ finally has an answer for curious fans.

Taking to his X handle, Dustin Poirier posted a cryptic message for his fans while alluding to possible retirement, “Got something planned for you, hold on, I’m coming.” He further added, “The last dance, I promise ya” and “There will be blood, see you soon.” Poirier wanted to retire from the sport by clinching the undisputed lightweight gold but came up short thrice against elite champions. Still, he has had career highlights with wins over names like Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje, and he now has a chance to end his career on a high note with another possible impressive victory.

Multiple fights could happen at the lightweight division for Dustin Poirier which includes a second clash with Dan Hooker, Nate Diaz, and even Ilia Topuria. However, we will have to wait for the promotion to take action. For now, let us move on to more news within the UFC lightweight division to Arman Tsarukyan, who might have just trolled Islam Makhachev in preparation for their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 311.

Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan are just over a month away from their highly anticipated rematch on January 18th. Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan II will headline UFC 311 after months of both fighters going back and forth with each other. Tsarukyan is seeking revenge for his loss in their first outing, and in his quest to claim the title, the Armenian has enlisted the help of the only man to ever defeat Islam Makhachev in his career, i.e., Adriano Martins.

Several photos are floating around social media where a sweat-drenched Adriano Martins and Arman Tsarukyan are seen doing the classic fist post for a photo op. After the photo was leaked online, it spread like wildfire as the MMA community was reminded of the lone loss of the Dagestani champion. It must be noted that Islam Makhachev has evolved way past his defeat to Adriano Martins, and fans state that Martins’s induction to Tsarukyan’s team may not have a profound impact on this fight as they believe that it’s just the Armenian’s way of trolling the lightweight champion.

UFC 311 will be a clash to remember as Islam Makhachev enters his fourth title defense against what is the best version of Arman Tsarukyan, who recently beat Charles Oliveira in a close three-round decision win at UFC 300. Who do you think will be the lightweight champion by the end of UFC 311? Do let us know your thoughts in the comment down below.
