Did you miss out on the key events in MMA? Well, there’s nothing to worry about because another daily roundup is here just to help you stay updated with the most notable moments in this sport over the past 24 hours. We will start today’s compilation with Conor McGregor sharing his reaction to Dana White‘s $20 million gate collection for UFC 303. The UFC always has a great time, especially in terms of bank, whenever ‘The Notorious’ decides to get back into action.

Then we will shift our focus to Sharaputdin Magomedov, who called out UFC 301 victor Michel Pereira. Apparently, he’s not that big of a fan of the Brazilian’s unusual and unorthodox flippy-flappy fighting style. Finally, we will sum up the roundup with Ben Askren, who chimed in to predict how a scrimmage between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira would end up. The former UFC star doesn’t think it would be an eventful outing for ‘Poatan’.

He hasn’t even stepped inside the Octagon to fight yet, but Conor McGregor’s impact is all for the fans to see. The UFC piggybacked on the Irishman to secure the biggest gate in the history of the promotion. As Dana White claimed, UFC 303 recorded $20 million in gate sales, meaning that the hype surrounding McGregor’s return is as real as it gets.

The UFC CEO even ripped into former Showtime President Stephen Espinoza and how he claimed that the world’s biggest MMA promotion would never even touch the $20 million threshold ever. And now, McGregor has reacted to that news as well.

McGregor took to his Instagram and shared a post from his own media outlet, ‘TheMacLife’, relating to the gate announcement. He did not share any words, but we can assume that he was over the moon about it because it proved how big a UFC event can get if ‘The Fighting Irish’ gets involved. Now, it’s only a matter of time before we find out if he can still get the job done against Michael Chandler on June 29.

Sharaputdin Magomedov calls Michel Pereira a “circus” act

Brazilian star Michel Pereira added another impressive finish at UFC 301 to his resume while extending his winning streak to 8 fights. Although fans love the way he entertains them with his gymnastic-style moves, which can be termed as something out of a comic book, Russian up-and-comer Sharaputdin Magomedov doesn’t seem to be a fan of those kinds of offensive tactics. He decided to go on social media and call out Pereira, while also bashing the Brazilian for his unusual offensive style.

“[Michel Pereira] you damn acrobat, I lost my opponent because of you. Everyone knows that you can do backflips now, but UFC is not a circus. You made an illegal move, and now you have to punished,” Magomedov stated. Thereafter, he expressed his wish to fight and possibly put Michel Pereira in his place in a fight at the UFC’s Saudi Arabia event. “Let me deal with this clown, ship him to Saudi Arabia 22 June and I will quickly teach him a lesson,” Sharaputdin Magomedov added. Will Dana White like this proposition? We’ll get the answers soon.

Ben Askren claims two minutes is all Jon Jones needs to beat Alex Pereira

Jon Jones set the MMA community abuzz after he ideated a probable clash against the Brazilian phenom, Alex Pereira. He believes that this fight has the potential to eclipse the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor fight to claim the No. 1 spot on the list of the greatest UFC fights, both in financial terms and also in terms of entertainment.

Meanwhile, when former UFC fighter Ben Askren conversed with Daniel Cormier and weighed on Jones’s proposal, he urged Pereira to sharpen his takedown defense. That seems to be the only route ‘Poatan’ can take to avoid getting wrecked by the supposed ‘greatest of all time’.

“People want to see him have the ability to stop takedowns because if you can’t stop takedowns on Jon Jones, he’s gonna take you and submit you,” Ben Askren stated. Moreover, in case Alex Pereira fails to do what ‘Funky’ has suggested that he do, the former UFC star predicts another quick finish for Jon Jones. “If he fights Jon Jones, I think there’s a chance it’s over in like two and a half minutes,” Askren added.
