McGregor conveys his verdict on Sean O’Malley

The Irishman and ‘Suga’ have been beefing for a while now. However, the situation seems to be reversing as McGregor had some kind words to share on O’Malley. In a recent video, McGregor was asked to share his thoughts on the former UFC bantamweight champion. ‘The Notorious’ then proceeded to reveal that he indeed likes O’Malley and would love to see him return to the Octagon. He said, “I like Sean O’Malley. I’d like to see him back.”

It is worth noting that things weren’t always sour between the two. In fact, O’Malley initially idolized Conor McGregor. Yet, things fell apart when ‘The Notorious’ mocked O’Malley’s claim that Ostarine was found in his system because it got transferred through the sweat of other athletes. This led to a back and forth where O’Malley took a jibe at McGregor’s last two losses and called him a drug addict before asking him to apologize.

Soon McGregor took more jibes at O’Malley, ridiculing his claim of being capable of defeating the former double champion. And just like that, the feud continued. But now, it seems like there can finally be peace between the two fighters.

Alex Pereira’s big injury update!

Alex Pereira is truly an unstoppable force in the UFC. While other UFC fighters take a maximum of two fights in a year, one if you are Jon Jones, ‘Poatan’ is gearing up for his third title fight in under six months. At UFC 307 on October 5, Khalil Rountree will try his best to bring an end to Pereira’s incredible run as light heavyweight champion.

But things would be a lot harder for him compared to Poatan’s former two opponents. Why? Because during his previous two defenses, he fought with a messed-up knee.

In a recent interview with ESPN, the 37-year-old revealed that he picked up a knee injury in his match against Jan Blachowicz back in July 2023. He admitted that his knee had come out of its place, and while it seemed like he was celebrating his win against Jiri Prochaka by rolling on the mat, it was actually his knee giving out. “When I was throwing elbows on Jiri, after the knockout I did a front roll. The front roll wasn’t me celebrating; it was me scared to post on the leg because it may have surrendered for good.”

However, now Poatan has dropped the major update that he is at 100% again after going through surgery. In fact, he wishes to fight as many matches as he can, now that he is all fixed up- “I was able to fight with such bad conditions with my leg, and now that I have had the surgery and am 100 percent healthy, I want to fight all the time.”

This surely would spell trouble for Rountree, as Poatan surely can be a menace to deal with. So now, it would truly be an interesting fight to witness. Just like the one between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley as he recently made it to the headlines again.

Sean O’Malley’s request to the new Bantamweight Champion

The main event of the UFC 306 from the Las Vegas Sphere was truly an underwhelming affair. While fans expected a banger of a fight at UFC Noche, all they received was the Georgian dominating ‘Suga’ for almost four of the five rounds. While the match did not end in a knockout, it was no less humiliating for the former bantamweight champion. As a result, he sent a DM to ‘The Machine’ to push for a rematch between the two. As he wrote, “Push for the rematch.”

But how do we know that? Well, that’s because Dvalishvili released a screenshot of it for the world to see. But what’s truly interesting is that it was O’Malley who earlier turned down the opportunity to have a rematch against ‘The Machine.’ Dvalishvili did offer to fight ‘Suga’ on November 16th, but O’Malley claimed that he would be getting surgery on October 3rd for his injured hip, one that cost him the title. ‘Suga’ wrote, “Getting surgery Oct 3rd. Fought you with one hip and still beat you. Round 1,3,5 . I’m the champ. Fight Umnar.”

Nevertheless, it surely won’t be an easy process to convince Dana White for the rematch. After the post-event press conference of UFC Noche, the CEO revealed that he hoped the fans turned off their television sets after the fight. So it seems like convincing White to give the fight another chance would be nearly impossible. But what do you think? Will we get to see a rematch? Let us know in the comments.
