Conor McGregor is no stranger to taking potshots at fighters, regardless of whether they’re actively fighting or not. In the latest, the former two-weight champion has taken shots at the most uncanny of figures within the MMA community. Who is that, you ask? None other than former two-promotion flyweight king Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson. Why? Well, that’s what we’re here to discuss in the latest episode of MMA Roundup, where we deliver the latest bite-sized updates from the past 24 hours.
From the McGregor-Johnson back and forth, we will move forward to Kamaru Usman, who had some choice words for Ian Garry after the Irishman made tall claims about ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Finally, we will end our roundup with a piece of information on Colby Covington, who has ramped up his beef with the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev. Let’s get started.

In the aftermath of Conor McGregor’s legal trouble, the fighter has been called out by one of the biggest fighters within the MMA realm with regard to his comeback story. Former UFC and ONE Championship champion, Demetrious Johnson has advised McGregor to retire from the sport for good. While having a conversation with Ariel Helwani, the famed former UFC fighter stated, “Conor McGregor – if I was to ask him, ‘Why are you still fighting?’ Like, what makes you wanna come back? You have all the money in the world that you can ever want. An extra $10-20 million – that should not effect the $500 million he’s made off of selling. I don’t know how much c—ine is, I don’t know but it can’t be that expensive.”
These comments by Johnson have been taken into cognizance by the former dual weight champion as he called out ‘Mighty Mouse’ in a nasty manner, “Lowest earner all time.” In another tweet, ‘The Notorious’ wrote, “How much does an Xbox cost hahahaa.” Well, Demetrious Johnson has amassed a modest $6 million from his MMA career which is obviously abysmal compared to the generation wealth McGregor has amassed in his career.
In addition to ‘Mighty Mouse’, Conor McGregor even called out Ilia Topuria, who recently claimed that he would be retiring by 30. ‘Notorious’ took to his X handle to add a cheeky comment, “Here’s the truth that will hurt all the little wannabe nobodies. Fighting was too easy for me, I done it all by 27 years old,”, wrote McGregor. The former dual weight champion might make a comeback to the sport next year but nothing is certain as of now. Regardless, let us move on to Kamaru Usman, who didn’t hold back on his thoughts about Irishman Ian Garry, after the latter said some unsavory things about ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.
Kamaru Usman bites back at Ian Garry for claiming the Nigerian-American is ‘scared’
Kamaru Usman͏ h͏a͏s yet to step inside th͏e͏ Oct͏agon s͏i͏nce͏ his f͏ight aga͏inst K͏ha͏mzat Chimaev last year. While the former welterweight champion might be paired with Jack Della Maddalena for some time next year, he recently took shots at the Irishman Ian Garry for claiming that ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is ‘scared’ of a fight.͏ While having a conversation on the ‘Pound-4-Pound’ podcast, Henry Cejudo said he wanted to see Garry and Usman throw down, to which the Nigerian-American fighter replied, “Does he even deserve that?”
He further added, “It was a lot of saying these guys were running from me. I don’t run from anybody. The notion of, ‘Yeah, they were scared of me, they were running,’ like, who are you? Who are you, of all people, is scared of you? Who are you? Who the f–k is that guy? For me to be a late replacement for what? I just need to get healthy. Doesn’t matter who it is. I don’t care. You could bring King Kong and King Kong’s brother—if they can make 170, we get it in. So, it is what it is.”
Ian Garry lost his undefeated status at UFC 310 against Shavkat Rakhmonov, however, he cemented his status as one of the most terrifying fighters in the division. A clash between him and Usman will have fans foaming at the mouth, but whether Dana White makes that fight or not, is yet to be seen. For now, let us move on to Colby Covington, who is beefing up with Khamzat Chimaev.
